When Virat Kohli started fearing from West Indies pacer Fidel Edwards

खास बातें

India vs West Indies: Prithvi Shaw Has Glimpses Of Sachin Tendulkar, Brain Lara, Virender Sehwag In Him: Ravi Shastri

India head coach Ravi Shastri on Sunday lavished praise on Prithvi Shaw, comparing the teenage sensation with Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag. “He (Shaw) is born to play cricket. He’s been playing since the age of eight in the maidans of Mumbai. You can see all that hard work showing. He’s a spectator’s delight. There’s a bit of Sachin there, a bit of Viru in him and when he walks there’s a bit of Lara as well,” Shastri said. “If he can keep his head on his shoulders and keep the work ethic, he has a bright future,” Shastri added.

India registered their tenth consecutive Test series win at home as Virat Kohli’s men crushed the West Indies by 10 wickets in the second and final cricket Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday.

Opener Shaw raced to a quickfire 52-ball 70 on the second day of the second Test to give India a flying start, days after cracking a century on debut.

Shastri also praised pacer Umesh Yadav, who returned a match haul of 10 wickets to become only the third Indian pacer to achieve the feat after Kapil Dev and Javagal Srinath.

“It can be a frustrating profession when you sit on the bench like Umesh for four Tests. Only 11 can play. He got his opportunity here and I’m very happy for him. It’s been done only four times (ten-for for a pacer in India),” the 56-year-old opined.

“What this will do is make him believe that he belongs. He can say now that he wants his place. That’s given us a headache. He was on target,” Shastri said of the pacer.

Shastri also lauded 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, while backing K L Rahul to regain his touch.

“I think (Rahul) will be fine. He’s a world-class player. Sometimes he tries too hard. He works really hard on his game. Pant is another name. He got his opportunity, he grabbed it, now he has consolidated it,” the coach added.

Kanye West Hugs Donald Trump, Says I Love This Guy

Kanye West left the normally loquacious president nearly speechless. (AFP)

Washington:

Does rap megastar Kanye West support Donald Trump? He loves him — and proved it Thursday by suddenly striding from his chair at a surreal White House meeting to hug the president.

“I love this guy right here,” the serial Grammy-winning artist declared in the Oval Office, before taking the president in his arms.

The rapper had been invited to lunch to discuss prison reform but turned what would ordinarily have been a staid White House photo-op into possibly one of the more unusual — and profanity laden — encounters in the Oval Office’s storied history.

Talking loudly and rapidly on everything from Trump’s protectionist trade polices to replacing Air Force One with a hydrogen plane, black gun crime, being married to Kim Kardashian and “infinite amounts of universe,” West left the normally loquacious president nearly speechless.

“That was quite something,” Trump finally said to laughter from astonished senior aides and journalists at the end of the soliloquy, which West punctuated with bangs of his fist on the legendary Resolute desk, used by presidents since the 1880s.

“It was from the soul. I just channeled it,” the musician said, adding — to further gasps — that Trump “might not have expected to have a crazy motherfucker like Kanye West supporting him.”

Trump said West “could very well be” future presidential material, to which the rapper said he would not want to get in the way of the Republican’s 2020 reelection.

“Only after him in 2024,” West said.

– Wearing Trump’s hat –

West, who has broken ranks with much of the left-leaning entertainment industry to support Trump, recently took fire for wearing one of the red baseball caps handed out at the president’s raucous “Make America Great Again” rallies.

Does he care?

West not only wore one of the caps into the Oval Office but declared: “There’s something about when I put on this hat, I feel like Superman.”

Trump can only have been delighted.

The president is pushing hard to portray himself as being on the side of blacks, rather than only the overwhelmingly white voter block behind his surprise election.

Last year, Trump was heavily criticized for what appeared to be his lukewarm condemnation of a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He’s also locked in a dispute with several black NFL football players who have knelt down during the playing of the US national anthem to protest racial inequality.

As recently as August, Trump seemed to be digging himself an even larger hole among African Americans when he got into a Twitter war with basketball great and black icon LeBron James.

But he’s working to flip that narrative ahead of congressional midterm elections next month.

His stump speech includes repeated boasts about record low unemployment for African Americans and he is touting the need for reform of the prison system, where blacks are about 38 percent of inmates, despite being only 13 percent of the US population.

So West’s visit, accompanied by NFL football great Jim Brown, may be the best political advertising Trump can get. Or the bizarreness of the occasion could end up backfiring, with some critics of the president immediately questioning whether serious issues facing the black community were sacrificed to showbiz.

After accidentally revealing the passcode to his iPhone in front of ranks of media cameras inside the Oval Office, West topped off his eyebrow-raising day by heading to a Washington Apple store, where he stood on the table — and talked again about Trump’s red hats.

– Black power –

In a Fox television interview Thursday, Trump said that West’s support had transformed blacks’ view of his presidency.

“When Kanye came out a couple months ago, something happened,” Trump said. “Nobody (has) ever seen it. He has a big following in the African-American community, a big, big following…. The polls went through the roof.”

Previously, West’s reality TV star wife Kardashian visited the White House to press, successfully, for Trump to grant clemency to Alice Johnson, a woman who was sentenced to life in prison for nonviolent drug crimes.

Trump raised her case again Thursday as an example of why the prison system needs urgent change.

West’s “terrific” wife opened his eyes, Trump said.

“We do need reform. That doesn’t mean easy. We’re going to make certain categories tougher when it comes to drug dealing and other things, but there has to be a reform because it is very unfair right now,” he said.

“It is very unfair to African-Americans.”

India vs West Indies 2nd Test Live Cricket Match When And Where To Watch IND vs WI Telecast, Live Streaming, Coverage Online

After outplaying the Windies in the first Test, confident team India will aim for a clean sweep when they take on the visitors in the second and final Test starting from Friday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in Hyderabad. India thrashed the inexperienced Windies team, winning the first Test by an innings and 272 runs inside three days. Skipper Virat Kohli and his team will once again look to overpower the visitors, which is unlikely to put up a challenge against the No 1 Test side in their own backyard. India are likely to stick to the same playing eleven as India announced the same 12-member team for the second Test. The only cause of concern for the Indian team management will be the form of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who failed to fire in the first Test. On the other hand, the West Indies will have to come out with something special to challenge the confident Indian team. Batsmen for the visitors succumbed to the Indian bowlers in Rajkot as the team failed to touch the 200-run mark in both the innings. The Caribbean batsmen will have to show patience in Hyderabad, unlike the last Test where they seemed to be in a hurry to leave the pitch with unwanted shots. A major relief for the visitors will be the return of pacer Kemar Roach and all rounder Jason Holder, who were not in the playing XI for the first Test.

Chris Gayle To Miss ODI, T20 Series For West Indies Against India

Darren Bravo and all-rounder Kieron Pollard will make a comeback in the shortest format, while all-rounder Andre Russell, who has been ruled out of all 50-over cricket due to injury but has been included in the T20I squad which will take place in the month of November.

“We will be without our stalwart, Chris Gayle for this Indian tour and the next tour against Bangladesh as he has declined selection at this time, however, he has made himself available for the selection for the visit of England to the Caribbean and the World Cup in 2019,” WICB chairman of the selection panel Courtney Browne said in a statement.

The West Indies are currently engaged in a two-Test series in India and are trailing after going down in the opening Test inside three days. The West Indies will play five ODIs and three T20 Internationals. The first ODI will be held in Guwahati on October 21.

With an eye on next year’s 50-over World Cup and 2020 World T20 in Australia, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has drafted in three youngsters — opener Chrandrapaul Hemraj, all-rounder Fabian Allen and fast bowler Oshane Thomas — in the limited overs squads.

Big-hitting Kieran Pollard, middle-order batsman Darren Bravo and all-rounder Andre Russell have also made a comeback into the T20 squad.

“As we continue our Cricket World Cup preparations, the upcoming tour of India provides a great opportunity to expose some of our young talent,” Browne said.

“Opener, Chandrapul Hemraj, all-rounder Fabian Allen and fast bowler Oshane Thomas will get their opportunity to showcase their skills, along with Sunil Ambris, who is returning to the fold.

Russell, however, has been ruled out of all 50-over format due to injury and Alzarri Joseph will undergo a fitness test before leaving for India.

“With the 2020 ICC World T20 two years away and the limited amount of T20 Internationals within the next year, the panel believes at this juncture it is time to invest in the young players that have emerged over the last two years from Windies A and B teams, along with 2018 CPL,” Browne explained.

“The selection of a young group two years prior to the World T20 gives the coaching staff time to help them with their skills and for the team to develop into a cohesive and competitive unit.

“The team will continue to retain some experienced players who will work alongside the younger group…offer our congratulations to the players making their international debuts and welcome back Darren Bravo and Kieran Pollard to international cricket,” he said.

WICB Chief Executive Officer Johnny Grave justified the reasons behind the early squad announcements.

“The team will have a camp before the start of the ODI series in Guwahati, so we had to select the squad before the start of the Super50 Cup, in order to organise flights and visas. With the CPL finishing last month, there was no reason to delay announcing the T20 squad,” he said.

As expected Dwayne Bravo and spinner Sunil Narine did not find a place in any of the squads after their names were left out of the 25-player list prepared to procure the Indian visa.

While Jason Holder will be the captain of the ODI squad, the West Indies T20 team will be led by Carlos Brathwaite.

ODI Squad: Jason Holder (Captain), Fabian Allen, Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Oshane Thomas.

T20I Squad: Carlos Brathwaite (Captain), Fabian Allen, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Obed McCoy, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Khary Pierre, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford, Oshane Thomas.

Kuldeep Yadav Commentates On His Maiden Five Wicket Haul In Test vs West Indies. Watch

India outclassed the Windies by an innings and 272 runs in the first Test at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday. Wrapping up the match inside three days, India registered their biggest ever win in Test cricket. Wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav ran through the Windies batting order in the second innings, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Registering figures of 5/57 in the second innings, Kuldeep became the seventh bowler to claim five wickets in all the three formats. After the emphatic win, the 23-year-old did something unique to make his maiden five-wicket haul memorable. Kuldeep, after the match, showcased his commentating skills and was seen commentating on his own performance inside his hotel room. The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) uploaded a video on their official website, where Kuldeep can be seen commentating on his own bowling performance.

During the first innings of the match, Kuldeep had a poor run with the ball, where he only managed a single wicket and went over 6 runs per over. Bouncing back in the second innings, Kuldeep unsettled the Windies batsmen with his variations and tore apart the visitor’s middle order. Talking about his performance, Kuldeep stated he struggled in the first innings as he was not able to adapt with the change of ball.

“It’s very difficult to bowl with the red ball straightaway when you are coming from white ball cricket. Sometimes it takes time to adjust. I bowled too full in the first innings, I bowled according to the wicket and the batsman in the second innings. Ravi Shastri told me to try and bowl from round the wicket. I was happy with that angle. I am learning and I am happy with the way it all came out,” Kuldeep said.

India currently have a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series against the Windies. The second Test between both the teams will be played from October 12 in Hyderabad.

India Showed Us How To Bat, Says West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite

India vs West Indies: India Showed Us How To Bat, Says West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite

India comfortably beat West Indies in the first Test at Rajkot © AFP

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite paid the ultimate compliment to the Indian cricket team after the visitors’ humbling loss on Saturday. India outclassed West Indies by an innings and 272 runs to record their biggest-ever innings win. Speaking after the match, West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite credited India for the stupendous show with the bat. “Not the best of starts, credit to India. They showed us how to bat. Quite disappointed”, he said. Kraigg Brathwaite also rued the lack of partnerships for his team. “Didn’t get enough partnerships as a batting unit. Two or three partnerships would hold us very well. One thing we said in our meeting was to be as positive as possible. Not sure if Holder will be fit for the next game”, he added.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred in India’s biggest-ever Test triumph as they thrashed the West Indies team inside three days. The tourists were dismissed for 196 early in the final session while following on, to trail the two-match series 1-0. They were bowled out for 181 in their first innings in response to India’s 649-9 declared.

Ravindra Jadeja, who scored his maiden international century during India’s only innings, took the final wicket of Shannon Gabriel for four as the hosts celebrated an utterly dominant win over the former cricketing powerhouse.

The world’s top Test side surpassed their previous biggest win against Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs during the minnows’ debut five-day game in June.

Kuldeep returned figures of 5-57 with his left-arm wrist spin, his first five-for in just his fourth Test since making his debut against Australia last year. He led an inspired spin attack with Jadeja claiming three wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin taking two.
