Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL Have Poor Audio Quality in Video Recordings; Pixel 3 XL Has Imbalanced Stereo Speakers: Reports

Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL Have Poor Audio Quality in Video Recordings; Pixel 3 XL Has Imbalanced Stereo Speakers: Reports

Google Pixel 3 XL has imbalanced audio from stereo speakers, probably due to the size of the bezels

Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagship smartphones were launched at an event held in New York earlier this month. The duo offer premium internals as well as a classy design. But, much like their predecessors, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, it may be that even the Pixel 3 series has a couple of unresolved quality issues. Some users and reviewers globally have been reporting an imbalance in sound coming out from the front-facing stereo speakers on the Pixel 3 XL. Apart from that, it is also being reported that video recordings on both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have poor audio quality.

A Reddit thread, spotted by Android Police, from about a week ago points out the blatant sound imbalance of the Pixel 3 XL’s stereo speakers. The user claims that the sound from the bottom speaker was much louder than that from the top speaker while testing out the phone at a store. “I was nearly sold on the 3 xl, but after watching the revenge of the mask on youtube, I noticed the sound substantially louder from the bottom speaker. Holding each speaker to my ear there is a noticeable balance issue,” the user said. “Top speaker lacks highs and bottom is crazy loud. Bass seemed about even with both.[sic]”

A comment from the official PixelCommunity account was posted on the thread earlier this week. In the comment, Google claimed that Pixel 3 XL’s speakers have been designed for 40 percent louder sound and better low frequency response. The reply essentially means that the imbalanced sound was by choice and due to improvement in design. However, the Android Police report claims that the smaller Pixel 3 does not appear to have the same problem. One plausible explanation of this issue is that the difference in size of the top and bottom bezels of the Pixel 3 XL led to Google using differently sized audio drivers.

Separately, Google’s Pixel 3 handsets also seem to have a microphone quality issue as certain reviewers are reporting poor audio during video recordings. Several smartphone reviewers have noted in their experience that the video recordings come out with poor audio quality when compared to the handsets like the iPhone XS and even the Pixel 2.

Poor audio quality means the sound in video recordings seem tinny and lack clarity, which should not be the case with an Android flagship in 2018. To recall, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also faced audio issues during video recordings. Google hasn’t yet resolved the issue on the latest Pixel 3 range, however a software fix might come soon.

Horrific Moment When Dozens Crushed By Punjab Train Caught On Video

The train accident in Amritsar was caught on videos by eye-witnesses on cellphones.

Dazzling lights and the sound of firecrackers exploding prevented people from noticing a train bearing down on them at breakneck speed during an ill-fated Dussehra event in Amritsar on Friday evening, a video of the incident showed. By the time a few turned their attention towards the railway track they were standing on, it was already too late.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Congress leader and wife of Cricketer-turned-Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, was the chief guest at the event. She has denied leaving the scene of the tragedy after the accident, which reportedly claimed 60 lives.

The video shows an open ground almost completely covered in darkness, save for a towering pillar of fire formed due to the burning of Ravana’s effigy and the lit screens of numerous cellphones busy taking photographs. Crackers continue to burst continuously, drowning out every other sound — including that of the approaching train.

The train from Pathankot enters the frame almost 30 seconds into the clip, and for a split moment, it appears as if the spectators are too shocked to have grasped the enormity of the tragedy that has unravelled before them. Realisation dawns soon after, and they scramble to the aid of the injured.

In the backdrop, firecrackers continue to burst.

The authorities have confirmed that 60 people were killed in the incident. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh ordered all government and private hospitals in the region to stay open, and said he would reach Amritsar to personally supervise relief and rescue efforts. “My government will give Rs 5 lakh to the kin of each deceased and free treatment for the injured in government and private hospitals. District authorities have been mobilised on a war footing,” he tweeted. National leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi, expressed their condolences too.

A Northern Railways official said the effigy was being burnt less than 100 metres from the railway track.

Prime Video is just one of several benefits alongside free shipping and Prime Music that make up Amazon’s Prime subscription service, which really makes the whole Rs. 999-per-year thing quite a no-brainer if streaming constitutes even a tiny chunk of your entertainment viewing. After Rohit Sharma’s controversial catch during the Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final ruffled some feathers, Team India’s young guns Prithvi Shaw and Mohammed Siraj entertained viewers with some on-pitch banter. Siraj and Shaw can be seen exchanging words in a video posted on Twitter — hopefully pleasant ones — during the ninth over of the Mumbai innings. The Mumbai side, led by Shreyas Iyer, won the semi-final by a 60-run margin through the VJD method.

In the video, Siraj can be seen testing 18-year-old Shaw, who became the youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut in the first Windies Test in Rajkot, with a variety of deliveries.

In the semi-final held in Bengaluru, Hyderabad won the toss and batted first, posting a 247-run target for Mumbai. Rohit Rayudu scored a century to help bring Hyderabad in a dominant position.

In response, Mumbai got off to an impressive start as openers Shaw and Rohit Sharma ensured a constant flow of runs. After the match was affected by rain, Mumbai made it to the final of the List A tournament after the VJD rain rule was applied.

The second semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be held between Delhi and Jharkhand on October 18. The final will be held on October 20.
