Watch: Indian Team Arrives In New Zealand, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma Get Big Reception At Airport

Team India arrived in New Zealand for a tough tour, comprising five One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals, starting on Wednesday. Along with the team, India captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma reached the Auckland airport amid loud cheers. The first match of five-ODI series will be played in Napier on Wednesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of the team’s arriving in Auckland on Sunday, saying: “Hello #TeamIndia. Auckland welcomes you #NZvIND.”

Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India recently won their first-ever bilateral ODI series in Australia. Earlier, they had won their maiden Test series in Australia in 71 years and 11 attempts after levelling a three-match T20I series 1-1 on a highly-successful tour Down Under.

On the other hand, New Zealand decimated the Sri Lankans at home. They won the two-match Test series 1-0, swept the three-match ODI series 3-0 and won the one-off T20I to end the series on a high.

The home team look in top form with captain Kane Williamson leading from the front. Besides the skipper, seasoned batsmen Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill are also enjoying a great spell with the bat at the moment.

In the recent 3-0 routing of Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series at home, Williamson led by example scoring 132 runs in three innings with two fifty-plus knocks.

Taylor, 34, finished as the top run-scorer in the ODI series with 281 runs, including a noteworthy 137-run knock in the third and final match in Nelson.

New Zealand opener Guptill accumulated 153 runs in the ODI series with a match-winning century in the first match in Mount Maunganui.

New Zealand have brought together their strongest possible line-up for the ODI series against India.

Jose Mourinho Says He Hid In Laundry Basket To Skirt Ban, Talk To Team

Jose Mourinho admitted that he once got round a two-match ban by hiding in a laundry basket so he could give a team-talk before a Champions League match. Mourinho, sacked by Manchester United in December, told BeIN Sports on Saturday how he skirted a touchline suspension on the eve of the 2005 quarter-final against Bayern Munich by getting the Chelsea kit man to help him stow away in the basket. “I go to the dressing room during the day so I was there from midday and the game is seven o’clock. I just want to be in the dressing room when the players arrive,” the 55-year-old recalled.

“I went there and nobody see me. The problem was to leave after. And the kit man put me in the basket. It was a little bit open so I could breathe.

“But when he is taking it outside the dressing room, the UEFA guys were following and desperate to find me so he closed the box and I couldn’t breathe. When he opened the box I was dying.”

Mourinho claims modern footballers have such fragile egos that one Manchester United player asked the Portuguese coach not to criticise him in front of his team-mates.

Publicly criticising United stars including Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw and feuding with others behind the scenes, Mourinho lost the dressing room and has since blamed the attitude of his squad for the fall-out.

Mourinho revealed he was stunned to be approached by an unnamed United player over his treatment of him.

“I had recently one of my players, I was just coaching them, and when I coach on the pitch I like to see myself free because I am in family and I want to be able to criticise everyone,” Mourinho said.

“I had one player say, he was very polite and not confrontational, ‘Please when you criticise me, can you do it in private?’.

“I said why and he said, ‘Because it’s my stature in front of the other players, when you criticise me I don’t feel comfortable’.

“He was one of the top players of his generation. Nowadays you have to be very smart in the way you read your players and their personalities.”

While former Chelsea boss Mourinho didn’t name the player he was talking about in the incident, he did mention Stamford Bridge legend Didier Drogba as a prime example of a player who responded well to being criticised.

“Entree Over, Time For Main Course”: Scott Styris Lays Down Challenge For Team India

After concluding the Australia tour on a high, India are scheduled to tour New Zealand for five One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals, starting on Wednesday. India drew the three-match T20I series 1-1 and won their maiden Test series in Australia in 71 years and 11 attempts before clinching their first-ever bilateral ODI series on a highly-successful tour Down Under. Ahead of another tough tour, former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris laid down a challenge for Virat Kohli and his team. “Well done @BCCI ..entree is over time for the main course,” Styris tweeted on Friday.

Australia were playing without their prominent batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner, who are serving one-year bans for their involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in March 2018.

New Zealand, on the other hand, look daunting as ever with captain Kane Williamson in remarkable form. Besides the skipper, seasoned batsmen Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill are also riding the best form at the moment.

On the other hand, India have decided to rest their prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Hyderabad-based fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been called in as his replacement.

“Keeping in mind the work load of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia. Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah in the squad for the Australia and New Zealand tour,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Bumrah was the joint-leading wicket-taker alongside Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon with 21 wickets in the four-Test series Down Under.

INDvsAUS: Virat Kohli reveals, Team India needs to Strengthen no 4 batting position as Ambati Rayudu fails
