Samsung ‘Neuro Game Booster’ Trademark Spotted, May Take on Huawei’s ‘GPU Turbo’ to Enhance Performance

Samsung 'Neuro Game Booster' Trademark Spotted, May Take on Huawei's 'GPU Turbo' to Enhance Performance

Samsung’s Neuro Game Booster looks set rival Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology

With mobile gaming catching on at a rapid pace, smartphone makers are shifting their attention to providing the best gaming experience with powerful hardware and software optimisations. Samsung is gearing up to make a big splash in the domain with an AI-assisted GPU acceleration technology to provide a superior gaming performance. Samsung’s gaming performance acceleration solution might end up being called “Neuro Game Booster”, if the trademark filing is anything to go by, and will likely debut on the Galaxy S10 flagship which is set to be announced next month.

Samsung has filed a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (UIPO) in the EU for a technology called  ‘Neuro Game Booster’ that is described in the application with words such as “Electronic game software for smartphones” and “computer programmes for playing games.” The trademark application, which was first spotted by GalaxyClub, was filed for rights over the name in the European Union. The filing also defines the technology as “artificial intelligence software”, suggesting that Samsung’s Neuro Game Booster will employ AI to intelligently allocate system resources and boost the gaming performance.

However, Neuro Game Booster is not an entirely new concept as Huawei already offers a similar solution called ‘GPU Turbo’ on smartphones such as the Huawei P20 Pro and the Honor Play. Samsung’s trademark filing does not reveal any details as to how Neuro Game Booster will achieve its objective, but if Huawei’s implementation is anything to go by, Samsung’s game performance acceleration technology will rely on a synergy of hardware prowess and AI-enabled software optimisation.

Additionally, the “Downloadable computer game software” description indicates that Samsung might bring the technology to older smartphones as well through updates or as a separate download package. There is no word when Samsung will announce the Neuro Game Booster technology, but at this moment, the upcoming Galaxy S10 appears to be the prime candidate for the debut of Samsung’s game performance acceleration technology. The Exynos 9820 SoC, which was launched in November last year and is most likely to power the Galaxy S10, certainly has the firepower in the form of a powerful Mali-G76 MP12 GPU and an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to bring Neural Game Booster to life.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the next in line to receive a mid-life facelift in India, and recently a new set of spy images of the car have surfaced online. These are the clearest images of the upcoming Baleno that we have seen so far, giving us a complete view of the updated model’s exterior. The model in these images appears to be the base variants Sigma, considering the car misses out on features like foglamps, alloy wheels, and more.

Visually, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift will come with a bunch of cosmetic updates, especially the front section. The car gets a heavily updates face with a revised grille design, restyled headlamps, which come with projector lights, and a new front bumper with a wider central airdam and new individual foglamp housings on either end. The headlamps also come with these new chrome elements that connect with the chrome slat underlining of the grill, creating the effect of being one single element.

The profile of the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift remains identical to the outgoing Baleno

The profile of the car remains identical to the outgoing Baleno with the same bulging shoulder line, ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights, and more. We do not get to see the car’s rear section in these images but expect to see a revised pair of taillamps, an updated rear bumper and few minor cosmetic changes. In terms of features, this base trim is expected to come with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and speed alert warning system, and possible even driver-side seatbelt reminder as standard. Motorola Razr Foldable Smartphone Design May Just Have Been Spotted

Motorola was in the news recently thanks to a report that it was planning on resurrecting the Moto Razr brand with the launch of a foldable smartphone. Now, a design registration has emerged on the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), showing a foldable smartphone design by Motorola Mobility, complete with the iconic hinge of the Moto Razr family. The design notably also appears similar to a patent filed by the company on the United States Patent and Trademark Office back in August.

Let’s start with the more recent WIPO design registration, which was filed for by Motorola Mobility just last week, and granted by WIPO on Saturday. It clearly shows a smartphone with the iconic Motorola Razr hinge, as well as the iconic chin. It appears as the Lenovo-owned company will employ two displays – one large display on the inside of the clamshell form factor, and another on the outside, on the top half. This second display can be presumed to show some information to users without requiring them to unfold the smartphone, while the first display with larger real estate is where the regular work will take place. There is also a notch on the first display, containing the earpiece, while the back panel features two circular shapes on both the top and bottom, thought to be the front camera and rear camera respectively, though the possibility of a fingerprint sensor and Motorola logo can’t be discounted.

To recall, the Wall Street Journal last week reported that Motorola was working on a foldable smartphone with a premium price tag, and that it would be part of the company’s classic Razr family. The report claimed that Motorola was working with US carrier Verizon to launch the new foldable Razr smartphone in February, and that it would be priced at around $1,500 (roughly Rs. 1,04,300). To recall, the last clamshell phone with the Razr branding was the Motorola Razr V3, released in 2004. The phone is reported to have sold 130 million units globally. The WIPO listing was first reported by 91Mobiles.

Now let’s step back to a USPTO patent filed by Motorola Mobility. Applied for back in May 2017, the patent was granted in August 2018, titled ‘Electronic Device With Hinge and Corresponding Systems and Methods’.

As seen from the images (above), there are several differences in design between the WIPO filing and the USPTO filing, with the latter not appearing to feature a secondary display, and just a single camera on the top half of the rear panel. There is no iconic chin either. Of course, a patent is not meant to describe a finished product, just safeguard the underlying technology and concepts from potential misuse.

Motorola is not the only company that’s working on a foldable smartphone, with Samsung and Huawei both confirming development of such a model. South Korean consumer electronics giant LG is also in rumours for developing a foldable smartphone.

The Aprilia SR Max 300 is a feature rich scooter

The funky looking Aprilia SR Max 300 scooter has been spotted in India, in Goa to be precise. And no, it wasn’t being tested there or something. It was showcased for Indian Aprilia dealers to gauge response. So, there is no reason to be excited on the prospect of India getting a new maxi-scooter. Yet! Will Aprilia bring the SR Max 300 to India? We don’t know for sure. Do we want it? Absolutely yes! But it has to make business sense for the company as well, right!

(The Aprilia SR Max 300 gets a 278 cc single-cylinder engine which makes 22 bhp & 23 Nm)

The Aprilia SR Max 300 has proper maxi-scooter looks with a large front apron along with a windscreen which is adjustable and dual headlamps. The version which was brought to India is the Chinese model, which is rich in features too. The SR Max 300 gets a 9-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, projector lamps along with daytime running lamps and a full HD action camera between the dual headlamps. Woah!

In terms of engine specifications, the Aprilia SR Max 300 gets a 278 cc single-cylinder engine which pumps out about 21.6 bhp and 23 Nm of peak torque and yes, it is an automatic. In terms of cycle parts, it gets 35 mm telescopic suspension up front and twin shock absorbers with 3-level preload adjustment at the rear along with a 260 mm disc up front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. Samsung Galaxy S10 Spotted in Leaked Image, In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Reportedly Won’t Work With Screen Protector

Samsung Galaxy S10 Spotted in Leaked Image, In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Reportedly Won’t Work With Screen Protector

Samsung Galaxy S10’s display hole will be pill-shaped to house the dual front cameras

Samsung Galaxy S10 series is expected to flaunt an attractive design and will come with a host of innovative features. Now, the Samsung Galaxy S10 has allegedly been leaked in a live image, showing an elongated pill-shaped display hole that leads us to believe it may be the Samsung Galaxy S10+ that’s been leaked instead. Also, it appears that the upcoming flagship’s ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor might not work when a screen protector is applied.

An image alleged to be that of the Samsung Galaxy S10 surfaced on Reddit courtesy of a person with the username ‘hissick27′. The leaked image shows the Galaxy S10’s front panel with minimal bezels and a pill-shaped hole at the top to accommodate the sensors, a design we have already seen previously in leaked renders of the upcoming smartphones. Even though the image was captioned as the Galaxy S10, we suspect the smartphone to be the Galaxy S10+ model given the cut out’s shape because the Galaxy S10+ is rumoured to come equipped with dual front-facing cameras

A let-down for prospective Galaxy S10 buyers might be the limited functionality of the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor that will come equipped with the upcoming smartphones. ArmadilloTek, a Texas-based company which manufactures protective accessories for smartphones, recently tested the Galaxy S10 and found that the in-display fingerprint sensor does not work when a screen protector is applied. ArmadilloTek tweeted the finding and further added that the company’s Vanguard series of military-grade protective cases for the Galaxy S10 duo will not come with a built-in screen protector. But on the brighter side, all the Galaxy S10 variants might feature support for reverse wireless charging which might be called ‘Powershare’.

YouTube Spotted Testing New Video, Download Recommendations; Stories Expansion Test Also Seen

YouTube is testing a new video recommendation format that displays blue bubbles on the screen with relevant keywords and related topic suggestions, facilitating easier browsing, a report claimed.

“The screenshots obtained show these blue bubbles just underneath the video player showing more specific video recommendations,” The Verge reported on Tuesday.

The video-sharing platform is currently testing the feature with some users on its main desktop page as well as on the mobile app, the report added.

For sometime now users have been complaining that the videos recommended on the side on YouTube’s interface often have little to do with the current video, making recommendations a point of contention for the platform.

“It’s unclear if the videos that populate from the new recommendation bubbles will face similar algorithmic issues that YouTube’s recommendation feed currently suffers,” the report added.

There has not been any word from YouTube as of now on the working of these blue bubbles and whether or not they will roll out the test feature to a bigger group in the coming months.

Separately, the company has been spotted testing video download recommendations to some users. Another report claimed that YouTube was seen testing an expansion of its Stories feature, where some users are seeing YouTube Stories in their Home feed that they don’t subscribe to.

2022 Ford Ecosport Spotted For The First Time

The next-generation Ford Ecosport has been spotted testing near Ford’s European headquarters in Cologne and the new model looks nothing like the current model.

View Photos

The 2022 Ford Ecosport looks like a baby Porsche Macan in silhouette.

A new set of spy pictures surfaced online have revealed the 2022 Ford Ecosport which was being tested near Ford’s European headquarters in Cologne. The all-new Ford Ecosport in silhouette looks nothing like the existing model which is on sale in our market as Ford has done away with the squared SUV looks and has given it more of a crossover appeal. If anything to mention, the next-generation Ford Ecosport looks like a baby Porsche Macan with a wider grille, swept back headlamps housing and a sloping roofline. Though, people would also argue for the design to be inspired by the Ford Focus hatchback.

p6hmamrFord has done away with the squared silhouette of the Ecosport.

The test mule has been spotted wearing heavy camouflage atop which are huge concealing panels so we cannot speak precisely about the design elements. However, there are certain design cues which are quite apparent. For starters, the bonnet appears to be even more muscular with pronounced muscular character lines and even the wheel arches have gained more muscle. Moreover, the window line rises towards the end and the character line on the side looks even sharper which gives the flanks a subtle concave sort of profile. Moving to the rear, the missing spare wheel is the first thing we’ll notice and that’s welcoming now as the Ford Ecosport in our market has had the same rear end for the last six years. That said, the rear profile of the new Ford Ecosport itself looks a lot more happening and contemporary than the current model with a tapering rear windscreen and shorter boot lid with sharp profiling beneath which is the tall rear bumper. Altogether, the 2022 Ecosport looks wider from the rear in the pictures.

Ford EcoSport
74brabn8The next-generation Ford Ecosport looks wider and much sharper from the rear.

At present, we don’t have any idea about the engines Ford will consider for our market but we expect the latest 1.5-litre dragon petrol engine to make its way into the 2022 Ford Ecosport in its BS6 avatar. There is also a possibility that Ford may source a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine from Mahindra following their alliance as Mahindra will be preparing the 1.5-litre motor to comply with the upcoming emission norms.

It is the flagship model in KTM’s adventure motorcycle range and now it is ready for a generation update. The 2020 model of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure has been spied testing and should be launched in 2020.

KTM has a long and strong lineage when it comes to adventure motorcycles and the KTM 1290 Duke Super Adventure is the flagship model in the company’s line-up and it is ready for a generation change. The new generation model has been spied testing and there are a few differences that it sports over the current model. Looking at the motorcycle, it is evident that the new bike gets a few new body panels whose designs are in line with KTM’s 790 Adventure and the factory rally bikes. The test mule also features WP suspension at the front and at the rear. Also, the radiator becomes a little wider and the new panels cover a larger part of the engine and the trellis frame.

(The panels on the test mule are new. They cover more of the engine & the trellis frame)

The windscreen too is new and looks to be adjustable, possibly electrically and though the test mule gets a temporary small headlamp, the finished model will probably get split LED headlamp along with daytime running lamps, something similar to what is offered on the current bike. The new 1290 Super Adventure looks to have a slightly larger stance and thereby better on-road presence. We also noticed the pannier like box at the rear left side of the motorcycle, which is most likely housing for all the testing equipment.

(Expect KTM to update the engine on the 2020 1290 Super Adventure as well)

The current generation KTM 1290 Super Adventure is not on sale in India. It gets a 1,300 cc V-twin engine which pumps out about 160 bhp and 140 Nm of peak torque. We expect KTM to update the engine as well when the 2020 KTM 1290 Super Adventure is launched. Expect it to comply with the new Euro V emission rules as well.

Honda Jazz EV Spotted Testing In India

Globally called, the Honda Fit EV, the model spotted in India came with the Honda Jazz badging. The car could be here for R&D purpose, however, as of now there is update whether Honda is planning to launch the car in India.

View Photos

Although globally known as the Fit EV, the model spotted in India came with the Honda Jazz badging

Electric vehicles are definitely going to be a key part of the Indian auto industry soon. While many automakers have already announced their plans to bring in electric models to India within the next couple of years, others are still contemplating their options. And Honda Cars India, to a great extent, has been part of the latter group. However, recently the Honda Jazz EV was spotted testing in India, for the first time, in its undisguised avatar with all the badging. While the car could be here simply for R&D purpose, but this does beg the question, is Honda planning to join the Jazz EV in India? Especially considering the fact that globally the car is known as Fit EV, and this one is sporting the Jazz badging. Furthermore, reports from a couple of months ago claimed that Honda will launch its first electric car in India by 2023-24.

Visually, the Honda Jazz EV’s rear section is different from the regular Jazz hatchback

Honda Jazz

While we largely get to see only the rear section of the car we do not see any visible EV badging, however, the design, styling and even the body colour is identical to the Honda Fit (Jazz) EV. Visually, the car’s rear section is different from the regular Jazz hatchback like, instead of the vertically stacked LED taillamps, the Jazz EV comes with a pair of smaller wraparound units. Furthermore, the car comes with a larger spoiler extending onto the sides of the rear windshield and a more muscular rear bumper. The car also gets a set of sporty alloy wheels.

While it’s claimed that Honda the new Jazz EV will come with a new electric motor with a range of 300 km, but as of now, the car is only expected to be launched in China. However, the company has revealed no plans to introduce the car in India yet. Currently, the only model in Honda Cars India’s fleet with any kind of electric power is the Honda Accord Hybrid. And that too is sold in India as a CBU (completely built unit) route.

Tata on the other hand already has the Tigor EV in its fleet, but its yet to be commercially launched in India. Hyundai, on the other hand, has announced its plan to launch the Kona Electric SUV, and similarly, MG Motors has also claimed that it’s second product for India will be an electric SUV.

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS Spotted Testing

The test mule seen in the spy shots hints that the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS has grown in dimensions.

View Photos

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS gets a massive grille which makes the face look even more butch.

It looks like that Mercedes-Benz has sensed the competition the upcoming BMW X7 could give to the GLS. And Mercedes is also aware of the fact that when people are spending oodles, they want something “extra-large”. The spy pictures which have surfaced online completely substantiate that as the test mule of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS looks as big a mammoth as the BMW X7. The revamped GLS will be unveiled in second-half of 2019 which was revealed in the official product roadmap which Mercedes-Benz published sometime back.

The test mule which has been spotted is heavily camouflaged and there are also small patches of concealing panels on the sides. However, the massive two-slat Mercedes grille is quite apparent and though the test mule isn’t embodying the three-pointed star in the centre and it isn’t chrome finished in typical fashions, we can tell it’s a GLS just by the design. The bumper profile has also been changed and new elements like a broad centre air dam and taller side ducts merge well with the even more butch face. In fact, the side assembly is so wide that it almost insets into the overhang. Moreover, the headlamps on this test mule look similar to the ones we have seen on the latest GLE.

Mercedes-Benz GLS
6pmnd47The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS looks longer from the side.

Though the 2019 Mercedes GLS looks wide and massive right from its face, it’s the side that makes the bulge even more apparent which in turn leads us suspecting that it has grown in dimensions, longer and marginally wider to be precise. That said, the side and rear profiles of the GLE look the same in design to the outgoing model but we expect subtle changes in the styling which may be hidden under the concealing panels.

Being the flagship SUV, the GLS will be equipped with all the bells and whistles you get in an equivalent S-Class. The GLS is likely to get the same in-line six and V8 powertrains too which is seen in the S-Class including the GLS 600 which is likely to wear the ‘Maybach’ badge. Moreover, there will be also a 63 AMG version which will get a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine which is likely to belt out over 600 bhp.
