Pakistan Have “Very Good Chance” To Win World Cup 2019: Shoaib Malik

Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik believes his team has a very good chance of winning the 2019 World Cup, which will take place in England and Wales. Although, the veteran said it will only be possible if his side performs well in cricket’s marquee tournament against the rest of the world. Pakistan’s last World Cup triumph in the One-Day International (ODI) format came in the year 1992 but Shoaib Malik feels his side has the ability to win the tournament this year.

“I feel we have a very good chance to win the tournament. But then having a ‘good chance’ doesn’t mean much. How we play each game and how we perform against the rest of the world will define how far we go,” Malik told Sky Sports.

“Yes, we have the ability to win the World Cup hands-down, but abilities don’t win you anything, performances do,” the 36-year-old added.

Malik further said his have the combination of top ODI batsmen and bowlers and he is personally looking to make the World Cup 2019 memorable.

“Our capabilities include having top ODI bowlers and batsmen in our line-up and personally I’m looking forward to a memorable World Cup 2019,” Malik said.

The experienced campaigner will be one of the key players for Pakistan during the World Cup. He has played 275 ODIs and raked up over 7,200 runs at an average of 35.24.

Pakistan will begin World Cup campaign against the Windies on May 31. They will later take on hosts England and will clash against India on June 16.

“Please Cut Him Some Slack”: Shoaib Akhtar Defends Virat Kohli’s On-Field Aggression

Virat Kohli’s on-field antics in Australia – especially during the Perth Test – have left the cricketing world divided. While some cricketers have criticised his behaviour, some have backed the Indian captain. And legendary Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has gone to the extent of calling Kohli one of the modern greats of the game and said that critics should “cut him some slack.”

Akhtar took to Twitter to say, “@imVkohli is one of the modern greats of the game. Aggression has been a part & parcel of competitive cricket, specially when you are playing Down Under as long as it stays in limit. Please cut him some slack.”

Virat Kohli’s on-field attitude has been in the spotlight of late. Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah recently called him the “world’s worst behaved player” and then Mitchell Johnson slammed his antics during the Perth Test. Speaking up on the issue in an exclusive chat with NDTV, former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan said that Virat Kohli’s much-discussed on-field attitude has played a major role to play in getting him success. “When you talk about Virat Kohli, you talk about his fighting spirit, you talk about his drive, and if that has got him success then he should stick to that,” Khan said. During the recently concluded Perth Test, Kohli was involved in an onfield-banter with rival captain Tim Paine. So much so that the umpire had to intervene into the matter.

Earlier, former Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson had slammed the visiting captain as “disrespectful” and “silly” for his on-field antics. “At the end of the match, you should be able to look each other in the eyes, shake hands and say ‘great contest’,” Johnson wrote in a column for Fox Sports.

India’s next face Australia in the Boxing Day Test. The series is currently level at 1-1.

Dipika Kakar And Shoaib Ibrahim Gave The Contestants Major Couple Goals

Shoaib Ibrahim and Dipika Kakar in a still from Bigg Boss 12.

New Delhi:

Tonight’s episode of Bigg Boss 12 can be described as a roller coaster ride of emotions. On the second day of this week’s luxury budget task titled ‘Remote Control,’ all the contestants broke down. As a part of the task, the family members of the housemates visited the house and gave their loved ones some advice. Television actress Dipika Kakar was represented by her husband Shoaib Ibrahim, who not only gave Dipika some much needed advice but also thanked Dipika’s friend S Sreesanth for standing by his wife through thick and thin. During the session, Shoaib addressed Sreesanth as “Saale Sahab.” Needless to say, Dipika got extremely emotional on seeing his husband and she immediately broke down. Shoaib’s entry in the house was extremely dramatic. He especially narrated a poem in Urdu for Dipika, which brought a smile on the faces of all the housemates.

As part of the Remote Control task, Romil Choudhary’s wife and his son entered the house to meet him. Romil too got teary-eyed on seeing his family members and he introduced Somi Khan to his wife as his best friend. Interestingly, Romil’s wife was quick to correct Romil and said that Somi is like his younger sister to him. That’s not it! Somi, too had a visitor, who was none other than her sister and former Bigg Boss 12contestant Saba Khan. Saba advised her sister to stay strong and told Somi that she believes in her. She also advised her to not get influenced by others.

It will be interesting to see if all the housemates will adhere to the advice given to them by their loved ones or if they will play the game by their own terms.

Shoaib Malik Gets Dismissed In Unlucky Manner. Watch Video

Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Afridi helped Pakistan register a six-wicket victory against New Zealand to level the three-match ODI series 1-1. While Pakistan’s victory was overshadowed by Imam-ul-Haq’s injury scare, Shoaib Malik’s bizarre dismissal in the match grabbed eyeballs too. The incident took place in the 33rd over of the Pakistan’s innings. Lockie Ferguson bowled a short delivery. which Malik pulled with great force. However, the ball hit Nicholls at short leg and ricocheted up in the air, only for Ish Sodhi to run in from mid-wicket and complete an easy catch.

Even though Malik was dismissed, he made sure to check up on Nicholls before walking off the field. Nicholls, on the other hand, was quick to brush off the injury and stand on his feet.

On the match front, Zaman (88 off 88 balls) stitched together a 101-run partnership with Babar Azam (53 off 49 balls) to help Pakistan overhaul the target in 40.3 overs and end their 12-match losing streak against New Zealand in ODIs.

Shaheen Afridi, adjudged player of the match, returned with figures of 4/38 in 9 overs, including one maiden.

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed lauded his team’s all-round performance.

“It was a complete team performance. We were hoping for a comeback and we did that, indeed. We were trying to use the new ball. Shaheen Afridi is good with that. The way we batted tonight, it was great. Babar played the bouncer well. It was a superb display of batting,” Sarfraz said.

“Our bowlers did well to contain the batsmen earlier. Spinners did a good job in the middle overs and then the pacers took wickets. We’ll try to play good cricket and win the final game,” Sarfraz further added.

The series decider is slated to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on November 11.
