Lok Sabha Elections 2019: BJP Will Win 27 Lok Sabha Seats In Madhya Pradesh: Shivraj Chouhan

New Delhi:

Don’t think ‘‘mama” has become weak, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who lost power in the recent assembly elections, said on Sunday and claimed the BJP will win at least 27 out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Congress may have formed government in the state but it could fall “anytime as it lacks majority”, Mr Chouhan, who is also called ”mama” or uncle, said at ”Yuva Vijay Sankalp Maharally” of Delhi BJP’s Yuva Morcha.

“Don’t think mama has become weak. I promise you that we will win at least 27 seats, as we did in 2014, out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats, in the coming elections,” said the senior BJP leader.

Hitting out at Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Chouhan claimed BJP could also have formed a “lame” government too but it decided it would do so only with a grand majority.

Mr Chouhan also mocked the gathering of opposition leaders at Saturday’s Kolkata rally as “bhanumati ka kunaba” (marriage of convenience), saying there was no unanimity over a common leader among the parties planning the ”mahagathbandhan”.

“It’s like a wedding without a groom. On the other hand we have a leader in the form of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lead us in the battle ground,” he said.

The ”Yuva Vijay Sankalp Maharally” was the fifth of a series of big rallies held by the Delhi BJP in the last two months, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

However, the event saw a not so whelming attendance. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari warned from the stage that it would be investigated who were the persons leaving the venue during speeches of the leaders.

Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha president Sunil Yadav claimed the event was attended by over 20,000 persons.

“People were coming and going but the chairs were full,” he said.

The Yuva Morcha had planned to torch 40-feet effigies of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal but the plan was shelved in view of poor air quality in the city, Mr Yadav said.

The rally was attended by many senior BJP leaders including union minister Vijay Goel who attacked Mr Kejriwal, alleging that his government in Delhi has “destroyed” the city.

Jaibhan Pawaiya, Lok Sabha election co-incharge of Delhi BJP, asked students to sharpen their arguments to face the challenge of being mocked on the slogan of “Achhe Din” by the opponents and counter it with achievements of the Modi government.

OP Rajbhar Says Will Contest All Seats In UP If BJP Doesn’t Give Reservation

OP Rajbhar had talked earlier about parting ways with NDA. (File)

Varanasi:

The Suheldev Bahujan Samaj Party (SBSP) on Friday said it will contest all the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fails to implement divisions under the 27 per cent reservation for backward classes. It also proposed to release the SBSP candidate list on February 25.

“BJP had promised to implement divisions under 27 per cent reservation for backward classes. 80 days are left till the elections, when will you do it? If you don”t keep your promise we will contest on all 80 seats, we will release candidates list on February 25,” SBSP chief OP Rajbhar told ANI.

OP Rajbhar, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, has always been critical of the BJP government.

Earlier, Mr Rajbhar had said his party would part ways with the NDA if BJP was not interested in continuing with the alliance.

This comes at a time when political rivals Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) joined hands to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led front in the 2019 general elections.

The state minister told ANI, that if the BJP does not respond within 100 days on whether it wants to fight the upcoming Assembly polls with the SBSP, his party would contest all the 80 seats on its own.

“We are with the BJP if the BJP wants to keep us then we will stay with them, if they don”t want us, then we have given them 100 days, 12 days have already passed. We will fight all 80 seats after 100 days,” he said.

Recently, the SP and BSP announced the seat-sharing agreement ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The SP and the BSP will contest on 38 seats each while the other two seats will be left for other parties. Both the parties have also decided not to field any candidates from the Gandhi family stronghold – Amethi and Rae Bareli.

RLD is demanding four seats from SP-BSP Alliance

25 Per Cent Hike In College Seats To Enable Quota For Economically Weak

Prakash Javadekar’s announcement came a few days after President Ram Nath Kovind cleared the EWS bill.

New Delhi:

Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar has announced a 25% increase in seats across educational institutions to ensure that the 10% reservation recently given to the Economically Backward Section (EWS) does not disturb existing quotas for the sheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes. The changes will be carried out from the 2019-2020 academic year, he told reporters at a press meet held in the national capital today.

The decision was taken at a meeting held with the University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Tuesday. Mr Javadekar said all universities will be notified to ensure that details of the EWS quota are included in their prospectuses with immediate effect.

The Union Minister’s announcement came a few days after President Ram Nath Kovind cleared a bill ensuring 10% reservation in government jobs and college seats for the EWS population. People from the general category who have an annual income under Rs 8 lakh and own fewer than five acres of land would be eligible for benefits under the new amendment to the constitution.

The bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on January 9 and the Rajya Sabha a day later amid opposition claims that it was just a “gimmick” aimed at profiting in the upcoming parliamentary polls. Nevertheless, the legislation was passed in the lower house with only three voting against it.

“The unreserved category is getting quota benefit for first time. If 100 seats are being offered today, they will be 125 from now on to ensure that the existing quota is not affected,” he said at the press meet, adding that colleges will be given an operational mandate in a week’s time.

People from the open category form less than 10% of the total population in many states, including Telangana and Tamil Nadu. So, even if they do implement the law, it is likely to be tweaked to suit their social mapping.

Mr Javadekar also announced 7th Pay Commission benefits for government institutions affiliated to the AICTE with retrospective effect from January 1, 2016. “We have sanctioned funds amounting to Rs 1,241 crore for this. It will aid 2.5 lakh teachers and academic staffers,” he said.

13 Rallies By Rahul Gandhi In Congress Plans For 80 Lok Sabha Seats In UP

Lucknow:

The Congress is planning to gatecrash the Mayawati-Akhilesh Yadav party in Uttar Pradesh a day after being left out of the coalition. The party is planning to hold 13 rallies in the state and contest almost all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi will hold 13 rallies in 13 zones in Uttar Pradesh in February. In each zone, six Lok Sabha seats will be identified and Mr Gandhi will hold one rally in each zone, sources said. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and the party’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge Raj Babbar are meeting today to finalise the plans, sources said.

It will begin from western Uttar Pradesh and the first phase of rallies will be held in Hapur, Moradabad and Saharanpur, sources said.

Mr Gandhi had hinted at the party’s plans for the state after the two leaders’ seat sharing announcement on Saturday. The Congress “has lots to offer to the people of Uttar Pradesh” and will take “our own decision too,” Mr Gandhi told reporters in Dubai.

The Samajwadi Party and Mayawati will contest 38 seats each. Of the remaining 4 seats, two are Amethi and Rae Bareli — Congress bastions held by Mr Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi. The other two will go to Ajit Singh, the chief of Rashtriya Lok Dal, which is part of the alliance in the state.

Hopes dashed for a pre-poll alliance with Congress in the heartland states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, both Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav had maintained that they were leaving the Congress out in Uttar Pradesh as it had nothing positive to contribute.

“I have tremendous respect for the leaders of the BSP and Samajwadi Party, and recognise that they have the right to do what they want. It’s on us to strengthen the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, and we will fight to our full capacity,” he said.

The Congress has not been in power in Uttar Pradesh since the Babri Masjid demotion in 1992. The state has been governed alternately by Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party. Last year, the BJP managed to break their grip on the state, storming to power in the aftermath of the victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in which they won 71 seats. But the trend was reversed in the by-polls held since with the SP and the Bahujan Samajwadi Party alliance making inroads into the BJP bastions like Gorakhpur and Phulpur.

But the Congress plan to contest the bulk of Lok Sabha seats is expected to cut into the votes of the alliance. It is also expected to irk Mayawati and Mr Yadav, who have lent support to the Congress governments in Madhya Pradesh. Neither leader has responded to the Congress plans.

Collaboration Confirmed. Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav To Contest Equal Seats

Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav made a joint announcement in Lucknow.

Lucknow:

Former UP chief ministers Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati have today announced the emulsification of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the upcoming national election. The BSP chief said that the two parties will contest an equal number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections and the remaining of the 80 seats will go to the Congress without an alliance and an ally of the new gathbandhan.

“It’s a well-thought-out division of 80 seats. Both SP and BSP will contest 38 seats each and an ally will get two seats. Congress can contest Amethi and Raebareli, but outside of the alliance,” Ms Mayawati said in Lucknow.

Both the leaders said their alliance will ensure the BJP’s defeat in the state. Condemning the CBI raids in the sand mining scam and reports that Akhilesh Yadav will be questioned for his role, Ms Mayawati said that the BJP maneuvered the raids.

“Our deal was closed in Delhi on January 4. But soon after the CBI started raiding officers and ministers of Akhilesh Yadav’s cabinet when he was the chief minister. I stand with Akhilesh Yadav. The BJP must know that their efforts can’t sabotage this gathbandhan. The more they try to halt it, the more strength it will gain,” she added.

Arvind Kejriwal Says AAP Will Defeat BJP In All 7 Lok Sabha Seats In Delhi

Arvind Kejriwal will hold Lok Sabha constituency-wise meetings of Delhi workers till January 16.

New Delhi:

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has reiterated that a vote for Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha election will mean victory of BJP and asserted his party will “fulfil its duty” of defeating the ruling party at the Centre on all seven parliamentary seats in Delhi.

Mr Kejriwal’s assertion has come amid a speculation that the Aam Aadmi Party may ally with the Congress to challenge the BJP in parliamentary polls later this year.

Addressing a meeting of party office-bearers from South Delhi Lok Sabha seat, on Thursday, the Delhi chief minister said, “AAP will fulfil its duty of defeating the BJP on all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.”

Mr Kejriwal asked the partymen to explain the arithmetic of coming polls to voters.

In the last Lok Sabha election, (in Delhi) BJP got 46 per cent votes and AAP obtained 33 per cent and Congress 15 per cent votes, he said.

“The surveys reveal BJP is going to lose 10 per cent of its vote share this time and you need to tell people that if these votes are polled by AAP, it will win all seven seats in Delhi by scoring 43 per cent votes. You have to explain to people that voting for Congress means victory of BJP,” Mr Kejriwal told AAP workers.

He asserted Congress faced defeat in 2014 because of the unity of all and now is the time to remove the “autocracy” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah from the country.

The AAP chief will hold Lok Sabha constituency-wise meetings of Delhi workers till January 16.

Convener of Delhi AAP Gopal Rai said the office-bearers will be given responsibility of polling booths. For every 10 households, a ”Vijay Pramukh” will be appointed for direct connect with voters.

The issue of alliance remains unsettled so far with both AAP and Congress not officially rejecting its possibility.

Mr Rai had said the Political Affairs Committee of AAP will take a decision on it later.

Can Give Congress 2 Seats In UP They Have Always Held

Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh:

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who is set to announce an alliance with BSP boss Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections, today said he will not speak on whether Congress will be a part of their alliance, but can leave their strongholds of Amethi and Rae Bareli for them.

“Won’t speak on Congress but can give them the two seats they have always held,” Mr Yadav told NDTV in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj, the parliamentary seat of his wife Dimple Yadav.

“Congress party is there, their leaders are there… But cannot say in what form or shape they will be with us,” he added.

Explaining why his Samajwadi Party decided to ally with once rival Mayawati, Mr Yadav said it is natural for political parties to have different ideologies and fight against each other, but “the situation right now is that we have to unite to fight the BJP.”

Akhilesh Yadav’s alliance with Mayawati is expected to include smaller parties like the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and the Nishad Party.

Taking a swipe at the centre, Akhilesh Yadav said the “BJP has formed an alliance with the Central Bureau of Investigation.”

left announce to contest on 13 seats in loksabha elections in Bihar| महागठबंधन की बैठक में नहीं बुलाने से नाराज लेफ्ट का बड़ा ऐलान, कहा
