Moeen Ali Claims He Was Called “Osama” By Australian Player During Ashes 2015

Moeen Ali has hit out at Australian teams and their “rude” approach to the sport. The England all-rounder recalled a shocking incident during the 2015 Ashes when an unnamed Australian cricketer called him “Osama”. According to the all-rounder, the incident occurred during the first Test in Cardiff. In his autobiography, which is being serialised by The Times, the 31-year-old said that following the racial slur, he was “distracted” for much of the Test and had “never been so angry on a cricket field”.

“It was a great first Ashes Test in terms of my personal performance, however there was one incident which had distracted me,” Moeen Ali said as reported by www.dailymail.co.uk.

“An Australian player had turned to me on the field and said, “Take that, Osama.” I have never been so angry on a cricket field. I told a couple of the guys what the player had said to me and I think Trevor Bayliss must have raised it with Darren Lehmann, the Australians’ coach. Lehmann asked the player, “Did you call Moeen Osama?” He denied it, saying, “No, I said, “Take that, you part-timer”.”

“I must say I was amused when I heard that for there is a world of difference between the words “Osama” and “part-timer”. Although I couldn’t have mistaken “part-timer” for “Osama”, obviously I had to take the player’s word for it, though for the rest of the match I was angry,” added the England all-rounder.

“But our eventual triumph and the Cardiff crowd’s reaction to me comforted me that the Australian player represented nobody.”

The off-spinner and left-handed batsman first came up against the infamously aggressive Australians in 2015 before his struggles with both bat and ball played a key role in England’s 4-0 Ashes defeat ‘Down Under’ in 2017/18, which led to him being dropped.

“Everyone you speak to…they are the only team I’ve played against my whole life that I’ve actually disliked,” said Moeen Ali.

Moeen Ali, who starred in England’s recent 4-1 Test series win over India after being recalled to the side, said he had no sympathy for the banned Australian trio of former captain Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, all sent into international isolation for their roles in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in March.

Birthday Special: Robin Singh was first player of Team India how was born in Foreign

Asia Cup 2018: VVS Laxman says for India Pakistan Match, Shoaib Malik can be key player

Lionel Messi omitted from 2018 Fifa’s player of the year award shortlist

Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Luka Modric Nominated For FIFA Best Player Award

Cristiano Ronaldo will go head to head with former Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah as he seeks a sixth FIFA men’s world player of the year award. But Lionel Messi — who has dominated the award along with Ronaldo over the past decade — has been omitted from the shortlist after featuring in the top three for 11 straight years. Ronaldo, who like Messi is a five-time winner of the award, lifted a fourth Champions League title in five years before joining Italian champions Juventus in July.

The Best FIFA Women’s Player award is certain to change hands. Lyon duo Ada Hegerberg and Dzsenifer Maroszan, who enjoyed an unbeaten Division 1 Feminine season and lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League, are joined by Brazil’s triumphant Copa America Feminina captain Marta in contending for the honour.

France’s World Cup-winning manager Didier Deschamps, Zlatko Dalic and Zinedine Zidane were nominated as the finalists for FIFA’s coach of the year award.

Deschamps became just the third man to win the World Cup as a player and coach with victory over Dalic’s Croatia in Russia while Zidane led Real Madrid to a third consecutive Champions League win in May before stepping down.

The Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award will be contested between a trio who shone in Russia, namely Belgium’s Thibaut Courtois, France’s Hugo Lloris and Denmark’s Kasper Schmeichel.

All seven awards, as well as the FIFA Fair Play Award and FIFA/FIFPro World 11, will be handed out on September 24 in front of football’s biggest names amongst the impressive surroundings of London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Jammu And Kashmir Wushu Player Makes State Proud

A wushu player has made Jammu and Kashmir proud by becoming the first player from the state to bag a medal at the Asian games. Bhanu Pratap Singh, a member of Jammu and Kashmir police is an inspiration for the youngsters of the state. He has been recommended by the DG Police of J&K for promotion to the post of a deputy superintendent of police. Bhanu Pratap Singh was welcomed with loud music and dance in his hometown Jammu. There was a rousing reception for Bhanu who bagged a medal in the Asian Games. He was taken out from the airport in a celebratory parade through the streets of Jammu.

Bhanu is the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to win a bronze medal in the 18th Asian games held at Jakarta, Indonesia. India won four bronze medals in wushu at the Asian Games making it India’s highest-ever haul in the sport.

Bhanu says Kashmiri boys are naturally athletic and are best suited to play the sports. Bhanu and his coach Kuldeep Handoo are members of the Jammu and Kashmir police. The Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP S P Vaid has recommended both to the government for promotion to the post of deputy superintendent of police.

“People in kashmir live at a high altitude and they have good stamina, if those who throw stones throw punches instead, things will change, I appeal the boys of Kashmir to make their parents and their country proud by participating in sports”, said Bhanu Pratap Singh

“It is a big achievement and it is a great honour for J&K police, the state and the entire country. Both the coach Kuldeep Handoo and Banoo pratap, who won the medal, are very talented and deserving I will recommend the government that they get their due”, said SP Vaid, DG Police J&K

The infrastructure for playing the sport isn’t so great, but that hasn’t dampened the passion for sports.

There are reportedly over 20,000 wushu players across 22 districts which is the highest in the country and with Bhanu making a mark for himself in the sport, its popularly is bound to grow even more.
