Xiaomi-Backed Yi 4K Action Camera, Yi Action Camera Discounted in Limited Period Offer

Xiaomi-Backed Yi Technologies, a Chinese company best known for its pocket-friendly home security and dashboard cameras, has slashed the price of its action cameras in India in a limited time offer on Flipkart. While the Yi 4K Action Camera was first made available in India in 2017 at Rs. 17,990, it will now be priced at Rs. 9,999. In case you don’t need a 4K camera, the Yi Action Camera is available at Rs, 4,999, down from its launch price of Rs. 6,990. Both these products will be available at these prices exclusively on Flipkart from December 17, with no clarity on when the limited period offer will end.

The Yi 4K Action Camera supports 4K video recording at 30fps, but the biggest chink in its armour is that it’s not waterproof. You will need to buy a separate case for waterproofing, which costs $40 (roughly Rs. 2,900) on AliExpress. It has a Sony IMX377 sensor and promises 2 hours of battery life on a single charge. This camera lets you broadcast your videos live to Facebook and YouTube, among other platforms.

On the other hand, the Yi Action Camera can record 1080p video at 60fps and is not waterproof. You’ll have the buy a case separately for waterproofing. Its battery life is claimed to be 95 minutes on a single charge. Both of these cameras support microSD cards for storage.

Action cameras are purpose-built for outdoor use. For instance, you can mount these cameras to your helmet while on a bike ride to make it a makeshift dashcam. Alternatively you could use a waterproof action camera to record underwater footage for personal or professional use.

Yi Technologies tells Gadgets 360 that there are no plans to launch the Yi 4K+ Action Camera. in India at the moment. At the moment, discounts on the other products Yi Technologies had launched in 2017 (such as the home security cameras) haven’t yet been decided.

Epic Games to Offer Fortnite’s Cross-Platform SDK for Free to Developers

In a new development, Epic Games has announced that it will make Fortnite’s cross-platform SDK and tools available to all developers for free in 2019. The game’s immense success is attributed to its cross-platform abilities of multiplayer gaming irrespective of the platform – mobile, PC, or any other console. The cross platform SDK services will enable developers to build online games that run in sync with all platforms, and leverage from the tools used for Fortnite. Epic has announced a roadmap for all the new features that will be added to the free online service in 2019.

“Throughout 2019, we’ll be launching a large set of cross-platform game services originally built for Fortnite and battle-tested with 200,000,000 players across seven platforms. These services will be free for all developers, and will be open to all engines, all platforms, and all stores. As a developer, you’re free to choose mix-and-match solutions from Epic and others as you wish,” the company says in its blog post.

Epic plans to offer more online services in the future, but it will begin with the C-based SDK next year, and this will include core features at launch, but more will be added throughout 2019. Epic looks to provide cross-platform login, friends, presence, profile, and entitlements features to developers.

This will provides the core functionality for persistently recognizing players across multiple sessions and devices; identifying friends; and managing free and paid item entitlements across seven major platforms -PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch – to the full extent each platform allows per-title. It will first arrive on the PC sometime in Q2-Q3 2019, and other platforms support will arrive throughout 2019.

Other upcoming key features that will be introduced in 2019 include PC/Mac Overlay API, cross-platform voice comms cross-platform parties and matchmaking, cross-platform data storage, cloud-saved games, and cross-platform achievements and trophies.

Epic notes that these online services will run on top of Amazon Web Services, just like Fortnite. It promises full compliance with Europe’s GDPR, and the C-based SDK will launch with Unreal Engine and Unity integration.

This new online service announcement comes a week after the Epic Games Store went live. The new PC games store looks to take the world’s biggest PC digital storefront Steam head on, by offering more revenue share to developers. Epic is giving all developers on the Epic Games Store an 88 percent share of the revenue.

Google Assistant Will Now Offer Radio-Style, On-Demand News From Publishers

Google said Thursday it was launching a radio-style, on-demand audio news feed available on smart speakers, personalised with the help of artificial intelligence.

The technology giant said it had partnerships with more than a dozen news organisations to deliver an audio feed in the same manner as its smartphone news feed.

“This new experience will bring you an audio news playlist assembled in that moment, for you,” Google product manager Liz Gannes said in a blog post.

“It starts with a briefing of top stories and updates on topics you care about, and extends into longer-form content that dives deeper into more stories.”

Google Assistant, the AI program developed by the company, will manage the feed, allowing users to skip a story, go back or stop.

The project aims to transform audio news into a Netflix-like experience, available on demand with personalised recommendations.

“For the past century, radio has been a one-size-fits-all medium,” Gannes wrote.

“Turn on the radio and you’re dropped into a show at a moment in time — regardless of what you already know, where you are, or what you’re interested in.

“Imagine instead if you could have your own radio, one that’s available on-demand, accessible throughout your day, and brings you news about the world and your interests.”

The new project builds on Google’s existing efforts to deliver news over its speakers and smartphones, and comes amid a broad effort by news organisations and tech firms to develop more voice services.

The audio news feature will roll out first to a limited number of people using the Google Assistant in the United States in English, the company said.

BSNL Broadband Unlimited Plans Updated to Offer Up to 6 Times More High-Speed Data

After revising its Rs. 299 broadband plan to offer more speed and data, state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is now again revising a slew of its unlimited broadband plans to offer more data benefits. The company has also introduced daily FUP limits on these plans, which wasn’t the case earlier, but it has increased the data offering by up to six times. The revised BSNL unlimited broadband plans include Rs. 675, Rs. 845, Rs. 999, Rs. 1,199, Rs. 1,495, Rs. 1,745 and Rs. 2,295 plans, with the most premium plan offering up to 35GB of data per day.

The revised BSNL BBG Combo ULD 675 broadband plan offers 5GB data per day at 10Mbps speeds. Therefore, the plan now offers 150GB of data benefit per month, instead of the earlier prescribed 35GB data. Apart from the daily 5GB data, this plan also offers unlimited voice calling benefits (local +STD) on any network within India.

The BSNL BBG Combo ULD 845 broadband plan now offers 10GB of data per day at 10Mbps speeds, offering 300GB of data instead of 50GB that was offered earlier. Post FUP limit speed and unlimited voice calling facility is also offered with this plan. Similarly, there’s also the BSNL BBG Combo ULD 999 and Combo ULD 1199 broadband plans that now offer 15GB of data per day and 20GB of data per day respectively, at 10Mbps speeds.

The BBG Combo ULD 1495 broadband plan used to earlier offer 140GB data per month, but now it offers 25GB data per day (750GB data in total). And the most premium BSNL BBG Combo ULD 2295 broadband plan offers 35GB of data per day at 24Mbps speeds. Earlier, it used to offer a total of 200GB data at 24Mbps speeds.

Lastly, BSNL has also revised its BSNL BBG Combo 1745 VDSL broadband plan that now offers 30GB data per day at 16Mbps speeds. Earlier, this plan used to offer 140GB of data at 16Mbps speed, and 2Mbps after the FUP limit was crossed.

Tthe unlimited voice calling benefit and the 2Mbps speed downgrade after the FUP limit is crossed is valid across all plans. These BSNL broadband plans have been revised in all circles. All of the new plans can be viewed on the BSNL website.

As mentioned, the BSNL Rs. 299 broadband plan was recently also revised to offer 1.5GB of data per day at a download speed of up to 8Mbps. This brings a total data offering of 45GB for 30 days. Upon exceeding the limit, customers will get data access at up to 1Mbps speed. The broadband plan also gives unlimited local and STD voice calls within India on BSNL network only. For other networks in the country, the plan offers unlimited voice calls between 10:30pm to 6am and on Sundays. It also comes bundled with free voice calling benefits worth Rs. 300 on networks other than BSNL.

Bullied Syrian Refugee Set To Watch Premier League As Huddersfield Footballers Offer Assistance

Syrian refugee teenager, who recently made headlines after his footage of being bullied in a school soccer field went viral, is set to watch a Premier League match from the stadium as two of Huddersfield’s players Jonas Lossl and Ramadan Sobhi have expressed their wish to invite the young football fan along with his family to an “all-expenses-paid trip”. Lossl and Sobhi offered their assistance in a reply to television presenter Jake Humphrey’s tweet. Humphrey had said he wanted to treat the boy’s family to an all-expenses-paid trip to a game.

“I completely agree with Jake Humphrey,” Lossl tweeted.

“I’d like to show my love by inviting him and his family to a Huddersfield game as my guest,” the Denmark international goalkeeper added.

“Can someone help me contact the right person connected to arrange this please?”

Sobhi, an Egypt winger, asked Humphrey to put him in touch with the boy’s family, writing: “It would be an honour to host him and his family for a day at Huddersfield Town.”

In the video, the 15-year-old boy, whose arm is in a sling, is seen being throttled by another teenager and then wrestled to the ground.

The other boy appears to choke him by pouring water on his face while pinning him down, saying: “I’ll drown you”.

Police said they were investigating the incident as “a racially-aggravated assault” and had questioned a 16-year-old boy over the footage.

They said the incident occurred on the playing fields of Almondbury Community School in Huddersfield in northern England last month.

A crowd-funding page to help the bullying victim has raised more than 75,000 pounds (85,000 euros, 96,000 dollars) by Wednesday afternoon.

A few weeks ahead of Isha Ambani’s wedding, mother Nita Ambani visited Ambaji Temple in Gujarat to place daughter wedding invitation before Goddess Amba.

She was accompanied by her mother-in-law Kokilaben Ambani and mother Purnima Dalal.

Isha Ambani and her fiance Anand Piramal, who got engaged in May, will tie the knot in a grand ceremony on December 12.

The royal invites for the king-size celebration are already out. Ambani and Piramal families will host their friends and family in Udaipur, where they are partnering with artisans and craftsmen to integrate local culture and traditions into the festivities.

Earlier, the Ambani family hosted a three-day extravaganza in the picturesque Lake Como in Italy, which was attended by the who’s who of Bollywood, among others.

Anand, son of Swati and Ajay Piramal, is the founder of Piramal Realty, a leading real estate firm in India.

Anti-Brexit Black Friday Pop-Up Shops Offer Londoners Worst Deal Ever

Pop up shop selling items with anti-Brexit themed labels and decked out in anti-Brexit posters and signs.

Campaigners demanding a second Brexit referendum launched a Black Friday pop-up shop offering the “worst deal ever” with mock items highlighting the potential cost of leaving the EU.

The “Costupper” shop in Peckham, a hipster quarter of south London, was set up by the People’s Vote campaign, which wants another referendum with the option of staying in the European Union.

Instead of slashed Black Friday prices, shoppers were lured in with signs like: “Welcome to your local inconvenience store” and “Huge reductions on disposable income”.

Once past the dying flowers in a bucket and Brexit Bill — a man dancing about outside dressed as a pound 50 billion wad of banknotes — shoppers could browse over the few rotting bits of fruit.

All the items in the shop were real — but with new labels such as “Brexit shampoo — takes the shine off your day”, Brexit fudge and “Brexit tampons — ultra expensive. Period.”

Several shelves were deliberately empty, including the pharmacy section, highlighting concerns about the need to stockpile imported medicine.

A Bank of Brexit cash machine told users that their balance was down pound 448 a year due to Britain’s 2016 vote to leave the EU.

 ‘Muddled mess’ 

British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday dismissed calls for a second Brexit referendum.

Britain and the EU have agreed on the outlines of post-Brexit ties as part of a draft deal due to be signed off by EU leaders on Sunday.

However, the agreement faces heavy opposition in the British parliament, with hardcore Brexiteers and EU supporters alike unhappy with the agreement’s compromises.

“It’s a joke on Black Friday but there’s a serious point: in this shop are some of the worst deals you could hope to find,” said Richard Brooks, co-founder of For Our Future’s Sake, a student-led anti-Brexit movement that forms part of the People’s Vote campaign.

“However bad these deals are in this shop, it’s nowhere near as bad as the Brexit deal that’s being delivered,” he told AFP.

“This is the best Brexit deal that we could have got. The problem with Brexit isn’t Theresa May; Theresa May’s problem is Brexit.”

“We’ve got this muddled mess of a deal where we’re paying pound 50 billion for the privilege of having less power and prosperity.”

From what we could see, the Santro continues to get the tall boy design and that’s good. However, there are now a host of new colours on offer. The Asta variant of the ‘Diana Green’ Hyundai Santro will have matching green bits around the dashboard and AC vents. The same outlined treatment will also continue around the gear shifter console. What we especially like though is the little attention to detail that includes green accents on the infotainment control knobs and the round side AC vents at both ends of the dash. It also comes with cool matching green seatbelts The green Hyundai Santro package will only be available on the manual Asta variant, which will also have dual airbags as standard along with ABS and EBD.

Visually, the overall silhouette of the car, especially from the sides, does give us a brief reminder of the older Santro, but it’s very clear that the design and styling are all new. In fact, the car has been designed in line with the company’s latest design language, featuring the large grille with the cascading pattering, large sweptback headlamps, and sculpted front bumper. The car also gets a pair of sharp tooth-shaped foglamps, which are positioned much higher, closer to the grille.

The rear of the Santro takes design cues from the Grand i10 but we’ll know more about the car when it’s launched next week. What we do know, though, are the features that will be on offer. There’s a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is equipped with smartphone connectivity and supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto on the top spec variant. On either side, we have larger aircon vents with a bunch of buttons and knobs positioned below of in-car controls. The steering wheel also gets the dual tone treatment with mounted controls for telephony, audio, and more.


Under the hood, Hyundai is offering the 2018 Santro with a 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. The engine develops 68 bhp and 99 Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a five-speed gearbox as standard. Though, the new Santro will be the first Hyundai to get the option of an AMT gearbox. There will be also a CNG option on offer where the engine will develop 59 bhp and deliver a fuel economy of 20.3 kmpl.

According to several retailers Gadgets 360 spoke to, stock isn’t uniformly spread across the country so don’t expect every local store to have pricing in line with this at the same time. These discounts join the price cut on the PS4 DualShock 4 controller.

In the lead up to Diwali, Sony has dropped the price of the PS4 controller to Rs. 3,990 instead of the usual Rs. 4,990. This is the first price drop for the DualShock 4 in recent memory. What’s more is, it’s not limited to the standard black controller either.
