Fortnite 7.20 Content Update Adds Sniper Shootout Limited Time Mode, Sneaky Snowman Item, and More

Fortnite 7.20 Content Update Adds Sniper Shootout Limited Time Mode, Sneaky Snowman Item, and More

The Fortnite 7.20 content update is live for iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Fortnite 7.20 content update is out right now. Epic Games has confirmed that its battle royale sensation will get a new Sniper Shootout Limited Time Mode (LTM), a Sneaky Snowman item, and performance fixes to prevent frame rate slow downs during building. The update is live in Fortnite with no downtime required. There’s a new community creation called Omega Pyramid in the Fortnite’s Creative Mode showcase called The Block too. The Sneaky Snowman drops in stacks of five with a maximum stack size of 10 and can be found in floor loot, chests, and supply llamas. Here’s everything you need to know about the update.

Fortnite update 7.20 Sniper Shootout LTM patch notes

  • Summary: in this limited time mode, players will do battle using scoped weapons only. May the best aim win.
  • Suppressed Sniper Rifles have been added.
  • Legendary Scoped Pistols have been added to Supply Drops.
  • Floor Loot spawners reduced by 50 percent.
  • Reviving “Down But Not Out” teammates in Duos and Squads is deactivated.
  • Profile Stats (K/D and Wins) are tracked in this mode.

Previously, a report from Nielsen’s Superdata claimed the game has made $2.4 billion in 2018. This is the first time we’re seeing revenue data for Fortnite for an entire year. Superdata claims that Fortnite is the highest selling game of 2018 in addition to the highest earning free-to-play title, eclipsing the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Though keep in mind that Epic Games itself does not release any revenue details regarding any of its games, let alone Fortnite.

It is also important to note that Fortnite is available on every platform — Android, iOS, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This also ensures it has a higher chance of monetisation versus other titles. This is lower than the alleged $3 billion in profit alone reported earlier in the month.

“Free-to-play titles amassed 80 percent of digital games revenue in 2018 but premium games still performed well in Western markets,” the report reads. “Asian mobile games helped the region earn 62 percent of global free-to-play revenue, while North America and Europe generated 80 percent of premium games revenue.”

Vasundhara Raje Says, State is In Grip Of Swine Flu, But Congress On Resting Mode

The promise of unemployment allowance of Rs 3,500 also seems to have vanished: Vasundhara Raje

Kota:

Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje attacked the Congress government over its “failure” to tackle swine flu menace in the state.

A total of 49 people have died of the H1N1 flu in the state this year and 1,233 people have been found positive. “Had the Congress-led state government been alert, swine flu would not have claimed so many lives in the state,” Ms Raje said on Monday.

She was addressing party workers at her constituency Jhalawar.

“The state is in the grip of swine flu which is spreading at a fast rate, while the Congress government is on a ”resting” mode,” the BJP leader said.

Ms Raje alleged that around 2,000 case of swine flu have surfaced across the country and 1,175 of them were from Rajasthan.

She also hit out at the state government over its farm loan waiver scheme.

People of the state have come to realize that the Congress government was supplying electricity to farmers at night instead of day, she said, adding claims of farmers” loan waiver within 10 days of coming to power has proved to be a “gimmick”.

The promise of unemployment allowance of Rs 3,500 also seems to have vanished from the ruling dispensation’s memory, the former chief minister said.

Ms Raje asserted that the people of Rajasthan did not reject the BJP government in the last state assembly polls. “…if that was the case, the Congress would have won a majority,” she said.

MIUI 10.2.2.0 Global Stable update also includes a few bug fixes for the Poco F1

Poco F1 has now started receiving MIUI 10.2.2.0 Global Stable update that brings a slo-mo mode with 960fps frame rate. The new update also includes an enhanced low-light mode. The new MIUI 10 update comes weeks after Xiaomi released Android Pie for the Poco F1 through the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM. Poco India General Manager C Manmohan last week revealed the development of the new software update. The executive said through his official Twitter account that 960fps video recording support and a night mode would debut on the Poco F1 in the coming two weeks.

As posted by some users on the MIUI forums, the MIUI 10.2.2.0 Global Stable update for the Poco F1 is now rolling out. The update carries build V10.2.2.0.PEJMIXM and is 311MB in size.

The key highlight of the latest MIUI 10 update for the Poco F1 is certainly the ability to shoot 960fps videos. This means the new option will sit alongside the existing 120fps and 240fps slow-motion video recording support. Moreover, there is an enhanced low-light mode to improve night shots.

PUBG Mobile Resident Evil 2 Duos Event Now Live, Zombies Mode Coming ‘Later This Month’

PUBG Mobile Resident Evil 2 Duos Event Now Live, Zombies Mode Coming ‘Later This Month’

PUBG Mobile Resident Evil 2 Duos event is now live and Tencent has hinted that Zombies mode could be next

Announced during the PUBG Mobile Global Finals in Dubai late last year, the PUBG Mobile and Resident Evil 2 collaboration is now under way with a PUBG Mobile Resident Evil 2 Duos event. There will be more to it than just a Duos event though. Tencent states that this is the first of its efforts alongside Resident Evil 2 creator Capcom, possibly hinting at Zombies mode, which has been widely speculated following the presence of the undead in recent betas. This announcement follows the game’s 0.10.5 update that went live earlier today. The 0.10.5 patch had a 190MB download size and brought with it Royale Pass Season 5, ‘Classic’ voices, new weapons, and the addition of Vikendi while creating rooms.

“In order to celebrate the highly anticipated Resident Evil 2 coming out on January 25, we are celebrating now with Duos event,” a tweet from the official PUBG Mobile account reads. “We look forward to the full release of the collaboration content later this month and can’t wait to share more with you!”

Considering that the Resident Evil 2 release date is January 25 for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, this collaboration could last longer than the previous ones that featured Mission Impossible and BAPE.

“We’re thrilled to enter this partnership with Capcom and their iconic Resident Evil game, and look forward to an exciting collaboration that will delight fans of both franchises. It will present a combination of the world’s most popular mobile game and a video game masterpiece that will be well worth the wait,” said Vincent Wang, General Manager of Global Publishing Center, Tencent in a prepared statement at the time.

Details on Zombies Mode are scant, though it would be present in the Arcade section of the game and you’ll be able to gun down the undead during the course of play according to past reports. If the PUBG Mobile Chinese New Year event is any indication, it could be a cooperative experience. Hopefully we’ll see some official information from Tencent soon.

Android Q Leak Tips System-Wide Dark Mode, More Privacy Features, and Desktop Mode

The next major iteration of Android, tentatively called Android Q, is still a few months away if Google’s release cycle is anything to go by. But an early preview build of the upcoming Android version has leaked, revealing a tonne of details about the new features that will arrive with Android Q.  A system-wide dark mode, more control over app permissions, a desktop mode tool, multiple new developer options, and new accessibility controls are among the new features that might greet smartphone users once Google begins the official roll out of Android Q.

The Android Q version being talked about is a leaked early build said to have been created in January itself with the Android security patch for February. XDA-Developers flashed the leaked Android Q build on a Pixel 3 XL and uncovered the new features, some of which might never make it to the stable build. One of the most prominent features spotted in the leaked Android Q build was a system-wide dark mode option that was enabled by activating the ‘Set Dark Mode’ toggle. An option to automatically enable the feature based on the timing of a day was also spotted.

Android Q’s system-wide Dark Mode imparts a dark shade to UI elements such as settings, launcher, volume panel, and even notifications from third-party apps, the leaked build shows. There is also a related tool in the developer options called ‘override force-dark’ which enables dark mode for apps that lack native dark mode support as well as third-party apps to a limited extent. However, it is not known how Android Q’s system-wide dark mode will work in case of apps which have native support for a dark theme such as Google’s own Phone and Message apps. The mention of Android Q’s system-wide dark mode has previously been spotted in a post on Chromium bug tracker following which it was later blocked from public viewing.

When it comes to accessibility features, two new tools might arrive with Android Q. The first one is ‘Time to take action’ that lets users choose how long they want an action-prompting message to be shown before it disappears. The ‘Time to read’ tool will allow users to specify the duration for which they want messages to be visible. Other minor discoveries include a ‘sensors off’ tool in the quick settings for disabling all sensors, new screen lock features, pop-up appearance of the app installation dialog and new filters in a file app which sorts files in types such as images, audio, video, and documents among others. It is worth reiterating here that the new features were extracted from an early build of Android Q and may not make it to the final build.

Android Q may also bring more privacy-focused tools. The revamped permissions controls spotted in the leaked build of Android Q indicate that users will be able to easily view the permissions granted to an app and also choose to restrict a few of them depending upon the usage status of an app. Moreover, the leaked build of Android Q is also seen to let users easily check which apps are using location data, thanks to a location icon which appears in the status bar. The presence of a developer option called ‘force desktop mode’, which is described as ‘force experimental desktop mode on secondary displays’, indicates that Android Q might also introduce a native desktop mode functionality like DeX by Samsung.

Talking about developer options, it appears that a rich catalogue of developer tools will debut with the next major version of Google’s mobile OS. Freeform windows for multi window view, ‘Game Update Package Preferences’ for choosing a graphics driver, a flag for enabling a native screen recorder and another one for viewing the current wallpaper on the always-on display are among the other new options added to the developer options. The location of certain tools and icons has also been tweaked in Android Q. anGoogle has previously detailed additional Android Q features such as multi-resume for running multiple apps simultaneously, however, an expected timeline for Android Q’s arrival is yet to be revealed.

PUBG Mobile Zombies Mode Map Leaked, Maybe Released Simultaneously With 0.10.5 Update

It seems that the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 update may finally bring zombies to the game. Late last year, Tencent announced it was partnering with Capcom for Resident Evil 2, and while both companies have been tightlipped on what to expect, that hasn’t stopped leaks from showing up to give us an idea of what to expect in the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 update. Zombies mode may end up being a co-operative experience with a map that’s a lot smaller than what you’d expect from PUBG Mobile. Furthermore, the 0.10.5 update is already in beta and features zombies in the waiting area and in maps although you can’t kill them.

Thanks to PUBG Mobile YouTubers Mr. Ghost Gaming and Allthenewsisgoodnews, it appears that the PUBG Mobile zombies update could be out sooner than expected. A host of videos based on the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 beta show off zombies added to the game. One of them, possibly based on datamined assets even has what appears to be a special map for the PUBG Mobile Zombies mode.

Other new additions include cosmetics for the Royale Pass which would be in its fifth season. These are fresh costumes, gun skins, and hairstyles. Some of these fit with the apparent zombie theme, sporting a post-apocalyptic aesthetic that wouldn’t be out of place in the likes of Mad Max. A new sort of redemption system may be added too. This allows players to trade in their UC or Unknown Cash as this is known for Battle Points. Initial evidence suggests that 50UC would net 500BP.

PUBG Mobile zombies map appears smaller than its other offerings

While we’re likely to believe that these would all be a part of the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 update, Mr. Ghost Gaming speculates that the zombies may be held back for 0.11.0 or beyond. This would seem unlikely given that Resident Evil 2 is out on January 25 and it would make sense for Tencent to update its game before that, most likely around January 18 to 20 according to past reports.

What’s more is, you can also expect a new death cam feature to show you how you died in PUBG Mobile. In addition to this, a new weapon called the MK 47 Mutant, a laser sight gun attachment, and a rickshaw (or Tukshai as it’s called in PUBG Mobile) will grace the game as well. Dynamic weather may also be included for maps like Erangel and Miramar, allowing for rain to change PUBG Mobile’s moment to moment gameplay. Furthermore, Tencent teased the return of a voice option known as Classic Voices that will be present in the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 update.

PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 update

  • Tukshai for Sanhok map
  • New snow area in Erangel map
  • New dynamic weather in Miramar and Erangel map
  • New death cam feature to show you a replay of how you died
  • Zombies Mode
  • MK 47 Mutant rifle
  • Laser sight for weapons
  • Snow bike for Vikendi
  • New dance emotes
  • Classic Voices
  • PUBG Vikendi snow map removed from beta
  • Royale Pass Season 5 cosmetics
  • Zombie map
  • UC for BP redemption system

Fortnite V7.10 Content Update 3 Adds Suppressed Sniper Rifle, DM Arena in Block Creative Mode Showcase

Another week, another Fortnite content update. Dubbed the Fortnite v7.10 content update 3, Epic Games’ battle royale shooter for Android, iOS, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC gets new weapons like a suppressed sniper rifle. There’s a new community creation called DM Arena in the Fortnite’s Creative Mode showcase called The Block too. Furthermore, Epic Games reconfirmed the 14 Days of Fortnite event has been extended for a limited time. Also, Fortnite’s Save the World mode gets new weapons like Santa’s Little Helper, it launches explosives that damage and knock back enemies. It does not consume ammo but has very low durability and will be available from January 9 to January 16 in-game.

Fortnite V7.10 Content Update 3 patch notes

  • Suppressed Sniper Rifle added: available in Epic and Legendary variants. Can be found from chests, floor loot, Vending Machines, and Supply Drops. A single shot, scoped sniper rifle. The suppressor makes for a quieter shot, trading stealth for power. Deals 100/105 base damage.
  • Six Shooter has been vaulted.
  • The following variants of the Burst Assault Rifle have been vaulted: Uncommon, Common, Rare.
  • Dual Pistols have been unvaulted.
  • Dynamite drop rate reduced by 40 percent.
  • Boom Box adjustments: drop rate reduced by 33%. Health reduced from 600 to 400. Duration reduced from 25 seconds to 18 seconds.
  • Santa’s Little Helper will be available in the Weekly Store: Launches explosive presents that damage and knockback groups of enemies. Does not consume ammo, but has very low durability.
  • The Popshot Shotgun will be available as a Frostnite Weekly Challenge reward.

Following a communication snafu that saw Epic Games release an incorrect end date for its 14 Days of Fortnite event, its first response was to give those who completed any of the 14 Days of Fortnite challenges an Equalizer Glider to compensate for giving out an incorrect end date for the event. However it soon announced it would bring it back until January 15.

“We communicated an incorrect end date for the 14 Days of Fortnite event and did not feel the Equalizer Glider compensation was the right approach,” a post from Epic Games dated January 4 reads. “After further discussion, we’ve decided to bring back this event early next week through January 15 at 3 AM ET [1:30pm IST]. We’ll also be enabling some of the most popular Limited Time Modes that were available during the event.”

“Players who were unable to complete those challenges will be able to earn all of the rewards they may have initially missed out on. All challenges will be available to complete for the entire duration of the event. Unfortunately, progress on partially completed challenges has to be reset.”

PUBG Mobile Gets Monsters in Arcade Mode for Chinese New Year

PUBG Mobile may be getting monsters in Arcade Mode. According to the PUBG Mobile 0.13.0 update that’s in beta and being tested out by Chinese users, PUBG Mobile would get Chinese New Year themed locations, a night mode for the Vikendi snow map, and co-operative gameplay that has players taking on monsters in PUBG Mobile Arcade Mode. New weapons, death cam replay (to show players how they died), and new animations are also present. It’s unclear if PUBG Mobile creator Tencent would bring these features, particularly monsters to international markets, as it seems to be exclusive to China. Throw in the previously teased Resident Evil 2 collaboration and it appears that the content calendar for PUBG Mobile is very different for Western and Chinese audiences right now.

News of monsters coming to PUBG Mobile was discovered by YouTuber Rey Lagarto (via Touch Arcade) who claims that it will be exclusive to China.

“Keep in mind this two modes were added because of the Chinese New Year celebration and will be only on the Chinese 0.13 version like arcade modes,” the video’s description reads.

PUBG Mobile 0.13 update notes

  • New weapon
  • New night mode on Vikendi with aurora
  • Chinese New Year theme locations
  • Death cam replay
  • New animations

According to an announcement from the PUBG Mobile community team, engineers and developers have been put into what’s being described as a Lag Task Force Team that will go through the submitted data before putting out a fix.

“As you know, PUBG Mobile is a very complex game which runs on various devices all over the world and on all sorts of network scenarios (at the moment of this writing over 30,000,000 people play the game each day),” the announcement from the PUBG Mobile Community Team reads on Discord. “With that in mind, we have obviously noticed that you have been experiencing various ‘lag’ issues with the game (in this case, lag can mean multiple things – to some players lag means device performance, to some it means high ping, and so on) so we would like to find out more. We have created a quick survey that we would love for you take part in.”

The PUBG Mobile lag fix survey can be checked out here. It will be interesting to see if it will be a part of the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 or 0.11.0 update which is rumoured to include Zombies Mode, new weapons, vehicles, and perhaps dynamic weather for Miramar and Erangel maps too. Officially, Tencent teased the return of a voice option known as Classic Voices that will be present in the PUBG Mobile 0.10.5 update.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Reportedly Receiving New Android Pie Update With Pro Camera Mode, Ability to Hide Notch

Nokia 6.1 Plus Reportedly Receiving New Android Pie Update With Pro Camera Mode, Ability to Hide Notch

Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched with Oreo in India in August

Nokia 6.1 Plus, one HMD Global’s budget offerings, is now getting a new build of Android 9 Pie – as per a user report. The update brings the December 2018 Android security patch and a few other enhancements for the camera as well as the user interface. The update rolling out to a Nokia 6.1 Plus user in India has a V3.45B build number and is 314.9MB in size. To recall, the Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched in India with Android 8.1 Oreo, and got its Android 9.0 Pie update in October.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus was already updated to Android Pie back in October making it one of the first budget smartphones to receive the latest version of Android.

The software update for the Nokia 6.1 Plus brings camera enhancements including a pro camera mode which will let users manually tweak parameters (like white balance, ISO, shutter speed). HMD Global is also bringing UI enhancements to the device which will allow users to hide the notch again. As we mentioned, news of the Nokia 6.1 Plus update was reported by a Twitter user. We’ve reached out to HMD Global for confirmation of the update’s rollout and its availability.

Nokia 6.1 Plus users had the option to hide the notch on the display earlier but it disappeared after the September security update. We had earlier reported a different method to toggle the notch which required users to enable developer options. With this new update, users will find a Full Bezel option to toggle the notch in the Display settings itself. The news of the software update was first reported by Nokiamob

The Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched back in August in India at a price of Rs. 15,999. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, it had 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It has a dual camera setup with Zeiss at the back consisting of a 16-megapixel primary sensor along with the 5-megapixel secondary sensor. We were impressed with the build quality of the device when we reviewed it. This device is a part of Google’s Android One Programme and is guaranteed to receive software and security updates in a timely manner.

If you have a Nokia 6.1 Plus, you can check for an update by going to Settings > System > System update > Check for update.
