Colin Ingram “Excited” To Return To IPL, Rashid Khan Says “You Deserve It”

Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be held on December 18 in Jaipur and as many as 346 cricketers are set to go under the hammer for 70 available spots in the eight participating teams. South Africa’s Colin Ingram, who is among the nine top-priced cricketers in the IPL 2019 action, has expressed excitement to make a return to the Indian T20 league, in which he played earlier in 2011. “Is this the year I return to @IPL? Will be great to be back and excited to take on the challenge,” Colin Ingram said on Twitter.

Afghanistan’s spin sensation Rashid Khan, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, told Ingram that he deserved to be a part of showcase event. “You really deserve it bro can’t wait to see you in action for any team in,” he tweeted.

In the 2011 season, Ingram played just three matches for Delhi Daredevils, who recently renamed themselves to Delhi Capitals. Delhi have never won an IPL title, never played a summit clash and last qualified for the playoffs in 2012.

With a new name, Delhi Capitals might be eyeing a turn of fortunes ahead of a fresh season. However, they might bid for the South African left-handed wicketkeeper at the auction for his impressive batting.

Ingram has scored 5,186 runs in 202 T20 matches with a strike rate of 139.29. He has three hundreds and 32 half-centuries to his name in the shortest format.

The 33-year-old southpaw played 40 international matches for South Africa with the last one being an ODI against Pakistan in Dubai in 2013. However, Ingram has emerged as a perfect pick for the competitive T20 format.

Besides Ingram, eight other overseas players who have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket (2 crore rupees) are Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews and D’Arcy Short.

Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat is the highest-priced Indian cricketer at the IPL 2019 auction with a base price of 1.5 crore rupees. Former Kings XI Punjab all-rounders Yuvraj Singh and Axar Patel will go under the hammer with a base price of 1 crore rupees each.

IPL 2019 Auction: Fans Want Yuvraj Singh To Join MS Dhoni In Chennai Super Kings

The Indian Premier League 2019 auction is set for December 18 and left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh, who has set his base price at Rs 1 crore, might well be lapped up by a franchise looking for an explosive batsman. Days before the IPL auction 2019, fans on Twitter want Yuvraj Singh join MS Dhoni in the Chennai Super Kings, the franchise that won the 2018 Indian Premier League in convincing fashion. The Yuvraj Singh-demand happened on Twitter when CSK asked its fans, “Ahoy #WhistlePoduArmy, who’s that one Lion you badly wanna see in #yellove this summer?”

To this question, the fans flooded the tweet with Yuvraj Singh’s name:

The Indian Premier League begins in March next year, with the first clash between CSK and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 29.

Among other Indians at the IPL auction 2019, Unadkat is the highest-priced Indian with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. The others with a Rs 1 crore base price are Wriddhiman Saha, Mohammed Shami and Axar Patel.

Flamboyant Australian batsmen Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch have opted out of the auction, largely owing to Australia’s hectic schedule in the run-up to the 2019 World Cup. There are no Indians with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Here are nine players in the two-crore base price: Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Colin Ingram, Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson, Chris Woakes, Samuel Curran, Shaun Marsh and D’Arcy Short.

IPL 2019 Auction: Kings XI Punjab Target Brendon McCullum, Shimron Hetmyer And Jaydev Unadkat Among Others

The Indian Premier League auction is scheduled for December 18 in Jaipur, where 346 shortlisted cricketers will go under the hammer. And as the day nears, the franchises are for sure busy forming wishlists. The Preity Zinta-owned Kings XI Punjab have already suggested XI players they are eyeing. Among the notable mentions are bowler Jaydev Unadkat, explosive Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum and Windies sensation Shimron Hetmyer.

Jaydev Unadkat, who was the most expensive Indian in the IPL 2018, has set his base price at Rs 1.5 crore. Shimron Hetmyer, who led the Windies to the U-19 World Cup title, has set his base price at Rs 50 lakh. Hetmyer will be highly wanted by the KXIP camp as he had an amazing tour of India earlier this year.

Brendon McCullum needs no introduction. The Kiwi, who enters with a base price of Rs 2 crore, has a history of success in the Indian Premier League. He has previously played for Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

According to several reports, flamboyant Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell has opted out of the auction, largely owing to Australia’s hectic schedule in the run-up to the 2019 World Cup.

There are no Indians with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Apart from McCullum, the other players with two-crore base price are Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Chris Woakes,    Samuel Curran, Shaun Marsh and D’Arcy Short.

Another development on the IPL auction front is that auctioneer Richard Madley has been “dropped” by the BCCI. Richard Madley was the auctioneer for the Indian Premier League (IPL) for 10 years. The Welshman was “dropped” from the forthcoming IPL auction by the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI). Madley recently tweeted that he has not been invited to auction the IPL this year and it was not his decision.

Richard Madley Recalls His IPL Career Highlight And It Involves MS Dhoni

Richard Madley was the auctioneer for the Indian Premier League (IPL) for 10 years. However, the Welshman Madley was “dropped” from the forthcoming IPL auction by the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) which is slated to take place on December 18 in Jaipur. Madley recently tweeted that he has not been invited to auction the IPL this year and it was not his decision. He also said that in cricketing terms he was dropped. As soon as he made the announcement of Twitter fans from all over India replied him to say that they will miss him.

One of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans also took the chance to ask Madley about his favourite moment from the lucrative IPL.

Madley to this replied that selling former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the inaugural edition of the league was his career highlight.

For the upcoming IPL auctions, flamboyant Australian batsmen Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch had opted out, largely owing to Australia’s hectic schedule in the run-up to the 2019 World Cup, according to reports by ESPNcricinfo.

Among the Indians, Yuvraj Singh – after a dismal IPL 2018 – will enter the auction with a base price of Rs 1 crore. And Mohammad Shami, Axar Patel and Wriddhiman Saha – who has been out of the Indian team due to a streak of injuries – also enter the auction with a Rs 1 crore base price.

Another Indian cricketer who deserves notable mention is Jaydev Unadkat, who will enter the auction with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Unadkat was surprisingly the most expensive Indian in last year’s IPL, having been bought for Rs 11.5 crore by the Rajasthan Royals.

IPL 2019: Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Glenn Maxwell, Mohammad Shami, Jaydev Unadkat released by their Teams

Rohit Sharma Asks Shah Rukh Khan To Perform For Him At Eden Gardens During IPL

Rohit-Sharma led Mumbai Indians (MI) are the most successful franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning the title thrice while Bollywood superstar co-owned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won the league twice. Rohit Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan were recently found engaged in a conversation on Twitter after the Bollywood star celebrated 25 years of his movie Baazigar through a video post. Rohit Sharma said that Baazigar was one of his most favourite movies.

Shah Rukh Khan in response said, “Next time will do Kaali Kaali Aankhen for you live at the IPL my friend. Keep healthy. Love to u.”

Rohit however wanted the performance to take place at KKR’s home ground and said that, “@iamsrk I’m going to hold you to that and at Eden Gardens so I can add that to my list of memories there.”

The Eden Gardens has been one of the happy hunting grounds for Rohit. He had notched up his highest One-day International (ODI) score of 264 runs at the same venue against Sri Lanka in 2014.

The Mumbai Indians had clinched the IPL title in the year — 2013, 2015, 2017 while Kolkata Knight Riders won it in 2012 and 2014.

Rohit averages 33.43 from 87 matches in the shortest format of the game. He has four centuries and 15 half-centuries with the highest score of 118 in this format.

Rohit will be next seen in action during the away tour to Australia, slated to get underway from November 21.
