Day After Mega Opposition Rally, Shatrughan Sinha Explains Its Real Goal

New:

A day after attending West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s rally for the anti-BJP politicians in Kolkata, BJP lawmaker Shatrughan Sinha said the parties gathered for a “common cause of saving the Indian democracy from being ruined”. The parliamentarian from Patna Sahib– who has been making savage attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi– thanked the Trinamool chief for bringing the opposition parties on the same platform

BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha on Saturday stepped up his attack on the centre over the controversial Rafale fighter jet deal and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi must answer a few questions else he will have to hear “chowkidaar chor hai (the watchman is a thief)”.

After the rally, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the party has taken “cognizance” of Mr Sinha’s presence at the rally.

Today, Mr Sinha renewed his attack, saying the rally had only one agenda– “Free India of Arrogance and Dictatorial Governance”.

“What an amazing gathering and what a mammoth audience that came together in Bengal in lakhs to listen to and support this spontaneous show of solidarity in favour of a change…parivartan!” he tweeted.

“Kudos to our sister, the great lady of Bengal, the fiery Mamata di, who needs to be roundly complimented for bringing together one of the largest congregations of the strongest and most influential political minds and leaders from all corners of the country on the same stage under a common cause…of saving the Indian democracy from being ruined…” he added.

Leaders of 22 opposition parties came together in Kolkata on Saturday as a show of strength at the rally, organised by Ms Banerjee. AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, TDP’s Chandrababu Nadu, SP’s Akhilesh Yadav, DMK’s MK Stalin were among the attendees. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and BSP leader Mayawati gave the rally a skip, but they sent their representatives.

Shatrughan Sinha was a union minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He had contested and won the Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket from Patna Sahib in 2014, but grew apart from the top leadership after being ignored for a ministerial berth. Over the years, he has been attacking PM Modi. His most recent dig at the party was when he came out in favour of setting up a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into alleged financial irregularities in the Rafale deal, a vehement demand made by the opposition parties led by the Congress.

Lionel Messi Scores His 400th La Liga Goal, Sends Barcelona Five Points Clear

“His numbers are stratospheric, incredible. He is from another galaxy.” Victory saw Valverde’s side restore their advantage over Atletico Madrid, who had briefly cut the gap to two points after beating Levante earlier in the day.

“There is a lot of time left,” Valverde said. “It is a good cushion but nothing is done yet.”  Real Madrid won too, beating Real Betis, to ensure Spain’s big three all prevailed in the same round for only the fourth time this season. Real remain 10 points adrift of Barcelona. Messi, meanwhile, extends his own hefty lead as the division’s all-time top scorer, which currently stands at 89 goals, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, now at Juventus in Italy, owns a better goals-to-game ratio, with his 311 strikes coming in 292 matches. Messi’s quadruple century arrived in his 435th.

In fact, it was one of Messi’s quieter nights in terms of performance and in another team it might have been Suarez or Philippe Coutinho picking up the plaudits.

Suarez assisted Messi, applied a classy finish and was on the end of a scintillating team move for Barca’s first.

– Sparkling Coutinho display –

Coutinho was the provider for that one and delivered a sparkling display to appease those doubting his future at the club. The Brazilian has endured a spell out of Valverde’s preferred starting line-up but he converted a penalty against Levante in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, and was arguably man of the match here. He alone supplied three passes in the build-up to Suarez’s opener. Arthur Melo started it, playing a one-two with Coutinho and then into the feet of Sergio Busquets.

Busquets pinged the ball left to Coutinho, who twice exchanged with Suarez before the Uruguayan, off balance, found the far corner. Messi’s moment came in the 53rd minute and it was Suarez who started it, stealing back possession after a heavy touch from Anaitz Arbilla. He bounced it off Coutinho and found Messi, who touched and rifled in.

Barca were enjoying themselves as Coutinho flicked the ball over one opponent’s head and Suarez did the same through another’s legs. The third goal was simple, however, Sergi Roberto taking a quick throw and freeing the scuttling Suarez. With the goalkeeper out, he looked up and chipped the ball into the net.

– Griezmann fires Atletico to win –

The pressure had been cranked up a notch after Antoine Griezmann’s second-half penalty earned Atletico a 1-0 victory over Levante. Griezmann has now scored all of Atletico’s last six goals and his latest one proved the difference in a cagey contest at the Wanda Metropolitano.

“We all pull the cart in difficult moments,” Griezmann said. “I cannot do anything without my team-mates.” The pressure has been on Real Madrid all season but they battled to a 2-1 win over Betis for their first league victory of 2019.

Luka Modric sent a thunderous shot into the top corner but Betis were in the ascendancy after Sergio Canales poked in a second-half equaliser.

Marcelo had been dropped by Santiago Solari, Karim Benzema taken off with a dislocated finger and Isco remained on the bench, watching three youngsters sent on ahead of him. Ceballos, who left Betis for Madrid two years ago, was one of them.

With a free-kick on the edge of the area and goalkeeper Pau Lopez leaving his left-hand corner open, Ceballos duly sent a dipping shot into the gap to snatch a dramatic win.

“It was an emotional moment for him,” Solari said. “A former player doing damage, football creates this kind of magic.”

Dale Steyn Says He Has A Bigger Goal Than Breaking Shaun Pollock’s Test Record

Dale Steyn, senior South African pacer, finds himself on the verge of breaking Shaun Pollock’s Test record of 421 wickets, ahead of the first match against Pakistan, starting on December 26. Steyn currently shares the record of South Africa’s highest wicket-taker in Tests with Pollock. He, however took 88 Tests to reach that mark, in comparison to Pollock’s 108. But Steyn believes that he has more than one-wicket left in him and at the end of the day he has a bigger goal to achieve.

“I have a lot more wickets in me than just one more,” he said. “I haven’t saved myself just to take one more wicket than Polly (Pollock), there is a bigger goal at the end of the day.”

He admitted that the past two years, during which he has had several setbacks had been frustrating.

“I do think it will be a beautiful thing to happen, if it happens. It has taken a long time and these records are great things to achieve.

“I will be highly honoured but I will get back to my mark and try to take the next one.”

The 35-year-old, who will be playing in his 89th Test, seemed set to take the record when he played in two Tests in Sri Lanka earlier this year but could only take two wickets to tie with Pollock.

“It’s just nice to have a red ball in my hand again,” he said.

“Sri Lanka was tough conditions for the fast bowlers, but by the looks of things – the way the nets have been playing out in the middle – there is some spice.

“I am looking forward to getting out there and playing five competitive days of cricket.”

Steyn is currently joint eleventh in the all-time list of wicket-takers in Test cricket.

Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who retired in 2010, heads the list with 800 while the top fast bowler is current England opening bowler James Anderson with 565.

Don’t Want Our Defenders To Concede Any Goal Against Canada, Says Coach Harendra Singh

The Indian team will face Canada on Saturday, aiming to book a berth in the quarter-finals of the Hockey World Cup 2018. The hosts, who top their pool, are equal on points with Belgium. However, a win against Canada will take India a step closer to booking a direct spot in the final eight. For that to happen, not only will India need to beat Canada but also hope that Belgium don’t have a better goal difference at the end of the group stages. India coach Harendra Singh has set a target of not conceding any goals against Canada — who are yet to win a match this tournament. He also said that he wants his side to maintain the top spot in the Pool C.

“The team will be playing a different kind of hockey tomorrow. We have a target and we have to achieve it,” Harendra Singh said.

“We want India to finish at the top of Pool C and do not want the Indian defenders to concede any goal in the coming match against Canada,” he added.

“The team is in a better position in terms of goal average compared to Belgium. So, there is no need to think more on that. Let’s see how Belgium is performing,” he added.

National team skipper Manpreet Singh has also showed confidence in his side and said that the five days break has helped them concentrate on fitness and study the opponent’s play.

“We got five days break after the match against Belgium. While we concentrated on fitness, we also got time to study the opponent team,” he said.

India had defeated lower-ranked South Africa while played out a draw against superior-ranked Belgium in their previous outings.

Congress’s First Goal Is To Remove KCR From Telangana, Says Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad:

The Congress-led alliance is confident of winning the Telangana Assembly elections “hands down”, the party President Rahul Gandhi said Wednesday, claiming the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao was showing signs of “nervousness and insecurity”.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Gandhi said the question of Chief Ministership in the event of the alliance coming to power was premature and the task now was to win the December 7 elections.

“This is frankly premature to decide who the CM candidate is going to be. Our first goal is to remove Mr KCR (as caretaker Chief Minister Rao is referred to by many) and TRS, who have damaged the dream of Telangana. We are together committed to that goal”.

On how many seats the Congress-led alliance “Prajakutami” (People’s Alliance) would win, he said he would not get into it, but was pretty confident they would win the polls. Most opinion polls too had stated this, he said. He charged KCR with using abusive language during campaigning and said it showed signs of his nervousness and insecurity.

“Also if you listen to the Chief Minister’s body language…and the type of comments he is making in some of his speeches…I think yesterday he was quite abusive…he abused a couple of people. Earlier in his speech also he was abusive…these are all signs of nervousness and insecurity developing. I think he said he is going to take rest…these are all signs of reality coming to him”, Mr Gandhi said.

“So I think I am pretty confident that the alliance is going to win the elections, it’s going to win the elections hands down”, Mr Gandhi said, “We are going to make sure that Telangana is run by the people of Telangana, by the spirit of the youngsters who sacrificed the lives for (the cause of) Telangana, he said.

The Congress-led alliance comprises TDP, the Telangana Jana Samiti and the CPI. TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, TJS President Prof. M Kodandaram and CPI General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy were present during the press conference.

Venezuela Striker Eduard Bello Celebrates Goal By Proposing To Girlfriend In The Stands

Scoring a goal is a joyous moment for any footballer at any level but a Venezuelan striker gave a whole new meaning to a ‘goal celebration’ when he decided to run into the stands and propose to his girlfriend. Eduard Bello, who plays for C.D. Antofagasta in the Chilean Primera Division, scored in the second minute of the game against Chile’s Everton and celebrated his goal in style. According to media reports, the forward got a ring from a member of coaching staff, ran into the stands and was then seen on video proposing to his girlfriend.

Fortunately for the Venezuelan footballer, his girlfriend said yes. In the video, Bello can be seen running up some stairs, ring in hand, to where his girlfriend is sitting. He then embraces and kisses her and gets down on one knee.

After receiving a round of applause from both sets of fans, Bello ran back onto the field.

Everton managed to fight back and took a 2-1 lead. But Bello once again took centre stage and found the back of the net for the second time in the match to draw his team level.

However, there was no fairy-tale ending for Bello. The 23-year-old was taken down by a rough tackle in the second half and forced to be substituted. To make matters worse for Bello and his team, Everton scored late into the match to snatch a 3-2 win.

A Venezuela international, Bello has been capped by his country on two occasions this year.

India, US Goal Is To Deny Iran Money To Destabilise Middle East

Washington:

The US and India have a goal of denying Iran the money it needs to destabilise the Middle East, a top American official said after his visit to New Delhi for talks over slashing India’s Iranian oil imports ahead of the November 4 deadline.

President Donald Trump in May pulled the US out of the 2015 nuclear accord, saying it had “failed to achieve the fundamental objective of blocking all paths to an Iranian nuclear bomb” and did not deal with Tehran’s “malign activities, including its ballistic missile programme and its support for terrorism”.

In an attempt to compel Iran to agree to a new accord, Trump reinstated sanctions that targeted the Iranian government’s purchase of US dollars, Iran’s trade in gold and other precious metals, and its automotive sector.

On November 4, a second batch of potentially more crippling sanctions will be re-imposed on Iran’s oil and shipping sectors as well as its central bank. The US has asked buyers of Iranian oil to cut imports to zero starting in November.

Describing the meetings with the Indian officials on the Iranian oil purchase issue as good, the Special US envoy on Iran, Brian Hook, however refrained from giving details of his discussions.

“On the India meetings, I also met with the Indian delegation to the UN during, I mean in New York during the UN General Assembly. I continued those discussions in Delhi, very good meetings. And I can’t get into specifics in terms of the nature of that discussion,” Hook told reporters in Brussels following his India visit.

“But what I can say is we are, we do have a goal of denying Iran the money that it needs, and we find that there’s a lot, I mean, to kind of destabilize the Middle East,” he said in response to a question.

“We continue to find that many countries including India share our concerns, especially the non-proliferation concerns. And the sunset clauses for the United States are of paramount concern, and it’s something that needs to be addressed,” Hook said.

In public policy, a sunset provision or clause is a measure within a statute, regulation or other law that provides that the law shall cease to have effect after a specific date, unless further legislative action is taken to extend the law.

The top American envoy opposed the creation of special purpose vehicles by the Europeans for the oil purchase so as to avoid US sanctions.

“With respect to the Special Purpose Vehicle, Secretary of State Pompeo said that that vehicle sends the wrong message at the wrong time. We believe that the US and the EU should be working together to find enduring solutions that truly support the Iranian people,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr Follows Dad’s Footsteps, Scores Sensational Solo Goal. Watch

Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo Jr Follows Dad

Cristiano Ronaldo posted the video of his son playing football on social media © Instagram

Cristiano Ronaldo is regarded as one of the best footballers of our generation. He has scored numerous goals ranging from screamers to overhead kicks, his list seems to be unending. However, it appears his son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr wants to emulate his father in scoring some astonishing goals. In a video shared on social media by Cristiano Ronaldo, his son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr rattles the opposition players by scoring two brilliant goals for his Juventus youth team. The 33-year-old striker posted the clips of both his son’s goals to social media. Cristiano Ronaldo shared the video with a heart emoticon.

Last week, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici had said it was not easy to replace a player of the calibre of Ronaldo as he also dismissed a return to Italy for Manchester United’s French World Cup winner Paul Pogba. Ronaldo, 33, joined Juventus from Real Madrid last summer for 100 million euros (115 million dollars). The Spanish club have lost three and drawn one of their last four matches and are currently fourth in La Liga.

“Ronaldo is probably the best player in the history of the game so he isn’t easy to replace,” Paratici told journalists at the Manlio Scopigno ceremony at Rieti in central Italy after receiving a “Manager of the Year” award. Paratici revealed that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had been keen from the outset to join Juventus. “We talked about it initially, and straight away we got the feeling he wanted to join us, which was a huge advantage,” he said.
