Fortnite Leaks Crackdown: Epic Games Forces Closure of FNBRLeaks

With Fortnite Season 7 in full swing, it isn’t just fans of Epic Games’ battle royale sensation Fortnite who have had their hands full. The company’s lawyers have been busy as well, sending out a legal notice to Fortnite leaker, FNBRLeaks. This comes after elements of Fortnite Season 7, such as its snow-themed map were datamined and made public. The FNBRLeaks Twitter account tweeted that Epic Games had threatened legal action if various FNBR social media profiles and GitHub Page weren’t deleted. What this means is, leaks of what to expect from Fortnite could come to a crawl. More importantly, it highlights how heavy-handed Epic Games can get with its own community and fans.

“I am not going to go into specifics with this,” the tweet reads. “Due to the request of an Epic Games Attorney who i’m not going to disclose, my Twitter, Discord, YouTube, Instagram, and GitHub must be deleted, or else they will take action. Thank you all for the support and followers over my 7 month span of the FNBRLeaks twitter. Sadly, everything comes to an end.”

In addition to this, the now deleted FNBRLeaks Discord had images of the legal notice that were posted by an FNBRLeaks staffer. It states that FNBRLeaks “spoiled the game for millions of of people who play and/or watch Fortnite, and negatively impact[ed] those who work hard to create and update Fortnite. The fact that he is a teenager makes this no less true”.

Considering how the Fortnite community has reacted to previous leaks, it appears that little has been spoiled because Fortnite doesn’t have a deep story or narrative that plays out. Besides, it’s rare to see players feel angry over a leak of something as trivial as a new cosmetic item in a game.

Nonetheless, this Fortnite leaks crackdown could be just the beginning. For a company that champions open platforms, Epic is rather close-minded about how its fans should enjoy Fortnite.

Epic Games to Offer Fortnite’s Cross-Platform SDK for Free to Developers

In a new development, Epic Games has announced that it will make Fortnite’s cross-platform SDK and tools available to all developers for free in 2019. The game’s immense success is attributed to its cross-platform abilities of multiplayer gaming irrespective of the platform – mobile, PC, or any other console. The cross platform SDK services will enable developers to build online games that run in sync with all platforms, and leverage from the tools used for Fortnite. Epic has announced a roadmap for all the new features that will be added to the free online service in 2019.

“Throughout 2019, we’ll be launching a large set of cross-platform game services originally built for Fortnite and battle-tested with 200,000,000 players across seven platforms. These services will be free for all developers, and will be open to all engines, all platforms, and all stores. As a developer, you’re free to choose mix-and-match solutions from Epic and others as you wish,” the company says in its blog post.

Epic plans to offer more online services in the future, but it will begin with the C-based SDK next year, and this will include core features at launch, but more will be added throughout 2019. Epic looks to provide cross-platform login, friends, presence, profile, and entitlements features to developers.

This will provides the core functionality for persistently recognizing players across multiple sessions and devices; identifying friends; and managing free and paid item entitlements across seven major platforms -PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch – to the full extent each platform allows per-title. It will first arrive on the PC sometime in Q2-Q3 2019, and other platforms support will arrive throughout 2019.

Other upcoming key features that will be introduced in 2019 include PC/Mac Overlay API, cross-platform voice comms cross-platform parties and matchmaking, cross-platform data storage, cloud-saved games, and cross-platform achievements and trophies.

Epic notes that these online services will run on top of Amazon Web Services, just like Fortnite. It promises full compliance with Europe’s GDPR, and the C-based SDK will launch with Unreal Engine and Unity integration.

This new online service announcement comes a week after the Epic Games Store went live. The new PC games store looks to take the world’s biggest PC digital storefront Steam head on, by offering more revenue share to developers. Epic is giving all developers on the Epic Games Store an 88 percent share of the revenue.

Epic Games Removes Infinity Blade Trilogy From App Store

Fortnite creator Epic Games has removed the Infinity Blade trilogy from the App Store. The original Infinity Blade, Infinity Blade 2, and Infinity Blade 3 can no longer be purchased on iOS devices. The decision happened without warning and Epic Games made this known after the Infinity Blade trilogy was removed from the App Store. It doesn’t help matter that Epic’s reasoning for their removal is flimsy at best.

“At Epic we strive to put players first and to provide a supported, full-fledged experience in every game we publish. With the development of Spyjinx and other projects, it has become increasingly difficult for our team to support the Infinity Blade series at a level that meets our standards,” reads a post from the company.

Considering that Epic Games is making a ridiculous amount of money from Fortnite, it’s hard to believe that the company can’t make the necessary effort to support what many think are some of the best mobile games around.

The removal of the Infinity Blade games comes after Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney suggested that the company was far from happy with Apple’s policies, bringing them up in a recent interview.

“We’d like to launch [the Epic Games Store] on iOS in 2019, however, that is in apparent conflict with current Apple policy,” Sweeney said in conversation with Game Informer. “We believe all general purpose computing devices, such as PCs, smartphones, and tablets, should be open to competition between stores.”

Following the end of development on the latest Unreal Tournament and Epic’s answer to Dota 2, Paragon, the removal of the Infinity Blade games appears to be yet another sign that Epic Games’ priorities have changed in a post-Fortnite world, making us wonder what else it plans to purge. Fortnite’s Save the World mode maybe?

Epic Games Announces PC Games Store With 88 Percent Revenue Share for Developers

Epic Games has announced the Epic Games Store. It’s the company’s attempt to take on Steam, the world’s largest PC game digital storefront head on. And while Steam offers developers a 30 percent revenue share that reduces depending on how well a game sells, Epic is giving all developers on the Epic Games Store an 88 percent share of the revenue. A part of this is due to how well Fortnite is doing and Epic seems hellbent on sharing its good fortune.

“As a developer ourselves, we have always wanted a platform with great economics that connects us directly with our players,” said Epic Games founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney in a prepared statement. “Thanks to the success of Fortnite, we now have this and are ready to share it with other developers.”

The Epic Games Store is set to launch at a nebulous date of “soon” and will feature a handful of curated games for Windows PC and macOS. What’s more is, it will be available to “additional games and other open platforms throughout 2019.”

Safe to say, the company is referring to side loading the Epic Games Store on Android just like how Fortnite is playable on Google’s OS.

How Epic manages developer expectations will be a point of concern. With the company taking all of 12 percent, how much effort it puts into curating, discoverability, and sustaining an active user base in its first few months will be telling of its longterm strategy. It also begs the question: what if Fortnite stops being popular? Will it still offer the save revenue share? Either way, the PC games space just got a bit more interesting.

Fortnite Gifting Feature Now Available on All Devices Except iOS Due to ‘Apple’s Policies’: Epic Games

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite’s gifting feature is now available. What this means is that items from the Fortnite store can now be given to your friends. The heavily requested feature is present in the Fortnite 6.31 update and can be used for a week. Keep in mind that Fortnite gifting works on PS4, Xbox One, Android, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Yes, iOS users won’t be able to use this feature. This is because Epic Games has stated that ” gifting is not available on iOS devices because Apple’s policies prohibit it.” However, with Fortnite having cross-platform play and cross-progression with select consoles, Android, and PC, it shouldn’t be too tough for hardcore Fortnite iOS fans to find a way to make use of this new feature.

Fortnite gifting – how it works

  • When you go into the Item Shop and choose an item to purchase, you will now be presented with two options: one saying Purchase Items and another saying Buy As A Gift.
  • Select Buy As A Gift and you’ll be able to choose which friend you want to send the gift to. You can then add a custom message if you would like. Your friend will receive a gift box with the item the next time they log in.

Before you can gift an item in Fortnite, you’ll need to enable multi-factor authentication and be a friend with someone for at least 48 hours before you can send a gift. It is also important to note that you can only gift three times in 24 hours and that you can only gift items present in the Fortnite store. Oh, and if you’re not interested in receiving any gifts, you can disable receiving them in the Account Settings section in-game.

Previously, Epic Games confirmed that Fortnite Mobile on iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR now runs at 60fps. If you play Fortnite Mobile on iPhone XS, XS Max, or XR, you will have the highest possible frame rate Fortnite has to offer on mobile devices.

It will be interesting to see if Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 get the option too in addition to gaming-branded phones like the Razer Phone 2 and Asus ROG Phone. For now though, it appears that iOS users have an advantage in terms of performance compared to those on Google’s OS.

New Delhi:

Gauri recently designed a studio for a cosmetic brand and shared a glimpse of the setting on Instagram. Shah Rukh, who contributed to the over-27,000 likes on Instagram, also posed a query to his wife. “When are you designing my office?” he asked and Gauri typed out a tongue-in-cheek response. “As soon as I have some free time…” she posted with a smiley. Gauri often feature on witty posts on Shah Rukh’s social media and this one is slightly different as the one appears to be trolled here is Shah Rukh himself.

Here’s what Gauri posted:

Gauri Khan, who owns her very own interior designer label Gauri Khan Designs, has designed Ranbir Kapoor’s new apartment and redecorated Karan Johar’s roof top other than several other celeb homes including that of Jacqueline Fernandez’s. She has also designed a restaurant in Khar – Arth.

Earlier in August, Shah Rukh couldn’t resist commenting on a magazine cover featuring Gauri. Sometime in July, he also appeared flattered by a photo of Gauri and Suhana, which was originally titled by the star wife as “New York Times.” Shah Rukh, who spotted the photo after returning to Mumbai to resume his work commitments while the mother-daughter prolonged their vacation, wrote: “NYTimes is carrying great news.”

Shah Rukh Khan is also simply the best with captions. Check out this one:

A Proposal On The Tennis Court! Yecong He Gets Down On One Knee In Epic Moment

For Yecong He, the Shenzhen Open will forever remain a special tournament. Yecong, who hasn’t spent much time at the ATP World Tour events in his career, made the Shenzhen Open special by proposing to his girlfriend, who was present in the stands. Yecong has never qualified for the main draw of a tour-level tournament but made the most of his time on the qualifying stage. After winning the match, Yecong went down on one knee and asked the most important question of his life.

Talking about how he prepared the proposal, Yecong said that he planned it before the tournament commenced.

“I prepared this proposal before this trip. But I didn’t tell many people about that because I didn’t want to put pressure to myself. I figured if I couldn’t get a win today, I could always wait till next time,” atpworldtour.com quoted Yecong as saying.

Yecong further added how important his fiance’s presence is during a match.

“I am really grateful that she has my back and supports me unconditionally. She already retired and is a swimming coach now, so she can’t always travel with me. It’s lucky that this weekend, she got days off because of the mid-autumn festival. Everything was so perfect for this proposal,” Yecong said.

Yecong’s compatriots, Di Wu, and Zhizhen Zhang expressed their happiness for Yecong.

“Congratulations to my bro, Yecong He. Not only did he win his first ATP [World Tour qualifying] match, he also won over a lovely wife. Not so many people can do that. We are all so envious,” Di Wu said.

Storm Florence Weakens But Epic Rains Still Expected On US East Coast

The storm is expected to become a Tropical Depression as it trudged inland early Sunday. (Reuters)

WILSON, N.C.:

Tropical Storm Florence was likely to weaken on Sunday as it swept through the Carolinas but dozens of communities are devastated and “epic” amounts of rain could still fall, officials said.

The storm is expected to become a Tropical Depression as it trudged inland early Sunday, knocking out power and causing at least eight deaths as flood waters kept rising.

North Carolina officials have reported at least seven storm-related fatalities with unconfirmed reports of a further three deaths. South Carolina authorities reported one death.

“This is still a catastrophic, life threatening storm,” said Zack Taylor, a meteorologist with the National Weather Center’s Weather Prediction Center in College Park, Maryland.

Winds have dropped to about 40 miles per hour (65 kph) since it roared ashore along the U.S. mid-Atlantic coast on Friday as a hurricane and it is crawling west over two states at 6 mph (9 kph), the National Hurricane Center in Miami said early Sunday.

Taylor said the storm already dumped 30 inches of rain on some parts of the N.C.

“This storm is still deadly and dangerous and it’s expected to turn northward later today into Virginia and the mid-Atlantic,” he said.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said: “This system is unloading epic amounts of rainfall, in some places measured in feet and not inches.” Rivers will continue to rise days after the rain has stopped, he said.

Around 50 stranded people were airlifted by helicopter in North Carolina, said Petty Officer Michael Himes of the U.S. Coast Guard. More than 26,000 hunkered down in shelters.

Roads were closed and authorities warned of landslides, tornadoes and flash floods, with dams and bridges in peril as rivers and creeks swelled. As of Saturday, about 676,000 homes and businesses were without power in North Carolina, along with 119,000 in South Carolina.

The White House said President Donald Trump approved making federal funding available in some affected counties.

Trump, who plans to visit the region next week and he tweeted his “deepest sympathies and warmth” to the families and friends of those who had lost their lives.

WORST YET TO COME

Florence was drifting westward over South Carolina, reaching about 25 miles southeast of Columbia S.C. at 2 a.m. Sunday, the NHC said.

Up to 40 inches (102 cm) of rain are expected along coastal areas of the Carolinas and up to 10 inches in southwestern Virginia, it said.

In Fayetteville, a North Carolina city of about 210,000 people about 90 miles inland, authorities told thousands of residents near the Cape Fear River and Little River to get out of their homes by Sunday afternoon because of the flood risk.

“If you are refusing to leave during this mandatory evacuation, you need to do things like notify your legal next of kin because the loss of life is very, very possible,” Mayor Mitch Colvin said at a news conference.

“The worst is yet to come,” he added.

The storm made landfall on Friday near Wilmington, a city of about 120,000 squeezed between North Carolina’s Atlantic coastline and the Cape Fear River.

Near the Sutton Power Plant in Wilmington, coal ash leaked from a Duke Energy landfill. The site lost enough material to fill around two-thirds of an Olympic-sized pool, the company said in a statement, adding that it did not believe the incident posed a risk to health or the environment.

Officials had warned before the storm rains could taint waterways with murky coal ash and toxic hog waste.

Florence has already set a North Carolina record for rainfall totals, exceeding that of Hurricane Floyd, which struck in 1999 and caused 56 deaths. Floyd produced 24 inches of rain in some parts of the state, while Florence has already dumped about 30 inches in areas around Swansboro.

In New Bern, about 90 miles northeast of Wilmington at the confluence of two rivers, Florence overwhelmed the town of 30,000 and left the downtown area under water. Some area residents described a harrowing retreat as the storm hit.

“It was pitch black and I was just scared out of my mind,” said Tracy Singleton, who with her family later drove through torrential rain and high winds from her home near New Bern.

South Carolina authorities said law enforcement officers were guarding against looting in evacuated areas, while Wilmington set a curfew on Saturday evening in response to looting in one area.

As the United States dealt with Florence, a super typhoon swirled towards Hong Kong and the Chinese coast on Sunday, gaining in strength over the South China Sea after hurtling through the Philippines, where it wreaked havoc that killed at least 25.
