Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Jayant Chaudhary meets Akhilesh Yadav SP-BSP Alliance

SP-BSP Alliance: Jayant Chaudhary can meet today Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati in Delhi

Now, UP Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary Joins Lord Hanuman Identity Debate, Calls Him “Jat”

UP minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary is latest to join Lord Hanuman identity debate.

Lucknow:

Lord Hanuman was jat, said Uttar Pradesh Minister for Religious Affairs Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, joining the debate surrounding the identity of the Hindu god.

The state minister likened Lord Hanuman’s characteristics to a person belonging to the jaat community.

“I think Hanuman ji was a jat, because when a jat sees someone in trouble, he (like Lord Hanuman) jumps in without knowing the issue or the people,” the minister old news agency ANI, adding that Lord Hanuman’s behaviour was very similar to that of jat because after Goddess Sita got kidnapped by Raavan, he immediately came to Lord Ram’s help.”

Mr Chaudhary, who also holds charge of Dairy Development, Culture, Minority Welfare, Muslim Waqf and Haj, further explained that a person’s lineage can be deciphered by noting their behaviour.

“Everyone who believes in the Sanatan Dharm would surely worship Lord Hanuman. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already given explanation on this issue,” the minister said.

“When this topic came to my notice, I said that it is through an individual’s behaviour that we conclude about one’s lineage,” the minister added.

On Thursday, Bukkal Nawab, a councillor with the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh, gave a new dimension to the discussion over Lord Hanuman’s identity by claiming that he was a Muslim.

“I believe that Lord Hanuman was a Muslim. That is why the names of the people in Islam are almost similar to lord Hanuman, whether it is Rehman, Ramzan, Farman, Zeeshan and Qurban. Such types of names are found in Islam only,” he said.

Former BJP parliamentarian Savitri Bai Phule had earlier called Lord Hanuman a Dalit. “Lord Hanuman was a Dalit and a slave of the manuwadi people. He was a Dalit and a human. When he gave his all for Lord Ram, then why he was given a tail and his face blackened? Why was he made a monkey?” she questioned, asserting that Dalits should also be considered human.

The controversy over Lord Hanuman’s identity broke out after Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, had during a rally in Rajasthan last month said, “Bajrang Bali (Hanuman) is such a god that he is a forest-dweller, lives in the mountains. Dalits, deprived, he takes everyone along, from east to west, north to south, and unites them all.”

A group that calls itself the “Rajasthan Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha” had sent the saffron-wearing chief minister a legal notice accusing him of playing on Hanuman’s caste for votes in Rajasthan.

Yogi Adityanath’s supporters said the notice is based on a distorted version of Yogi Adityanath’s speech, in which he seemed to say, without pause, “Bajrang Bali (Hanuman) is such a god that he is a forest-dweller, lives in the mountains, is a dalit, deprived…”

Various political parties had condemned Mr Adityanath’s remarks including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav asking the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to disclose the caste of other gods as well.

Sprinter Palender Chaudhary Allegedly Commits Suicide At Delhi’s Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium

The Sports Authority of India has ordered an internal inquiry in sprinter’s death.

New Delhi:

Palender Chaudhary, an 18-year-old Sprinter who represented India at international level, died in Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital today morning after he allegedly attempted suicide in his athletics academy at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday.

Palender was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside his hostel room and was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night by his coach and academy staff. The doctors declared him dead on Wednesday morning. No suicide note has been found.

The Sports Authority of India, which runs the academy, has ordered an internal inquiry following the incident.

“We have ordered a departmental inquiry as the incident happened in our premises. The inquiry will be headed by Secretary SAI Swarn Singh Chabra and it should be completed within a week,” SAI Director General Neelam Kapur told news agency PTI.

While the Authority said that the reason behind his suicide was monetary issues with his family, the family maintains that his equation with them was fine.

“Preliminary it seems a family matter related to monetary issues. What we came to know is that the boy had an argument with his father in the morning on phone after which his sister came to meet him in evening,” the Authority’s Director General said.

“He took the step in front of his sister after threatening her. She came out screaming and our staff immediately went there and brought him down,” she added.

Palender’s cousin Poonam said that the family got to know about the incident in the morning and the Authority’s claims of a fight with the father or sister are baseless.

The sprinter’s father Mahesh Pal told news agency ANI that he needed money. “I assured him that I will give him the money. Don’t know what happened later. I’ve no complaints against the people at the stadium.”

His fellow trainees and staff at the stadium were shocked as Palender showed no signs of depression while training through the day. He finished his training by 5:30 pm and attempted suicide an hour later, a Sports Authority of India official said.

“It is a very sad and tragic incident. We are extending all possible help to the family and have arranged for the transportation of his body to his native place in Aligarh. Our officers will also accompany his body to ensure smooth conduct of his last rites,” the official said,a dding that no one knows knows the reason why he took such a step.

“All top SAI officials are in Safdarjung just to ensure the postmortem is done at the earliest and body is handed over to his family at the earliest. It is now a police case and they will investigate into it,” the official added.

Palender was living in the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium’s hostel since November 2016. He was training for 100 and 200 metre races.

In 2017, he was selected for the Asian Youth Championship in Bangkok and won gold medal in relay. He also participated at the World Youth Championship last July.

Saurabh Chaudhary Wins Gold Medal In 10m Air Pistol Event

Chaudhary, who is also an Asian Games and Junior ISSF World Championship gold medallist, had 18 scores of 10 and above in the eight-man finals. He had topped the qualifying stage with 580 points. Hailing from Kalina village near Meerut, Chaudhary emerged winner a day after another 16-year-old, Manu Bhaker, won the women’s pistol event.

Despite four scores of under 10 to start with, Chaudhary managed to stay ahead and then extended his domination with scores of 10.7 10.4 10.4 and 10.0. He continued to lead the pack as the finals entered the elimination stage.

Earlier, 15-year-old Jeremy Lalrinnunga showed some strength in weightlifting by clinching India’s first ever Youth Olympics gold after lifting a personal best of 274kg in the men’s 62kg category in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“I am feeling really happy that I won the gold medal here,” Lalrinnunga told PTI from the Argentine capital.

As his father Lalneihtluanga was a national level medal winning boxer, Lalrinnunga himself aspired to become a pugilist from an early age but that changed when he learned about weightlifting.

“A new weightlifting academy opened in my village. The moment I saw it I wanted to try out the sport. I used to do boxing when I was younger but when I tried weightlifting I loved it.

“It’s a sport that involves strength and that is the reason I love it,” Lalrinnunga said.

India Scoops 11 Medals With 3 Gold, Javelin Thrower Sandeep Chaudhary Smashes World Record

Chaudhary claimed the top spot with a best throw of 60.01m, which he managed in his third attempt. He, in the process, shattered the F44 world record, bettering the earlier mark of 59.82, which Chinese Mingjie Gao made in 1980. Chaudhary’s disability falls in the F42-44/61-64 category, which relates to limb deficiency, leg length difference, impaired muscle power or impaired range of movement.

The athletes in this category compete with or without prosthesis. Para-athletics gave two more silver also with Ramya Shanmugam and Radha Venkatesh finishing second in women’s F46 javelin throw and women’s T12/13 1500m race respectively.

Swimming also fetched four medals for India. Besides, the gold from Narayan, India also won three bronze from swimming on Monday. India also won a silver in para-powerlifting while shooting para sport gave the country a silver and a bronze.

With today’s 11 medals, India’s medal tally stood at 3 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze to occupy the eighth spot in the medal table.

India had won two silver and three bronze on Sunday. China is on top of the medal table with 35 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze, followed by South Korea with 14 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze.

Javelin thrower Chaudhary was one of the star performers of the day in the Games with his world record throw.

“For the Asian Para Games, I had a very good preparation and with a world record I have won a gold medal and I’m really happy with that,” a beaming Chaudhary said after his event.

“I’m not going to stop there with that performance, I will try my best at the next World Championships in Dubai. Thanks to my coach and the Paralympic Committee of India who supported me at every level, it is a really good achievement for India and for me also,” he added.

In the women’s T11 1500m race, Rakshitha clocked 5 minute 40.64 seconds to clinch the gold. Her disability falls in T11 category which relates to very low visual acuity and/or no light perception.

Narayan clinched the gold in men’s S7 50m butterfly by clocking 32.72 seconds while swimming at lane number 5. Yang Hong of China was second with 33.54 while Payungsakul Boonyarit of Thailand took the bronze in 38.09.
