Amritsar Train Accident: 10 Big Rail Accidents after 2014

साढ़े चार साल और 2 रेल मंत्री, लेकिन नहीं सुधरा सिस्टम और विभाग, 10 बड़े हादसे

Amritsar Train Accident:

European Leagues Press UEFA To Stop Favouring Big Four

The Association of European Leagues on Friday asked UEFA for a more even distribution of Champions League revenue and a broader spread of places in the competition. After the association of 35 European leagues met in Frankfurt, vice-president Claus Thomsen, from Denmark, called for “a fair and democratic club competition model.” The association was responding to UEFA’s club-competition plans for the period 2021-24.

It wants UEFA to reconsider reforms that came into effect this season allowing direct qualification for the Champions League of four teams from England Italy, Germany and Spain.

The statement said “the vast majority of members of the European Leagues support” a return to three guaranteed places for each of the big four leagues, which are all represented in the Association.

They also object to using past titles as criteria. Their statement says access to European places “must always be based on the latest performance of clubs in their respective domestic top-tier league competition and/or domestic cup,” although they make an exception for current European trophy holders.

Revenue should be distributed more equally between the European club competitions, the association statement says, with a bigger share going to the Europa League.

They also say “solidarity payments should be significantly increased to help reduce the increasing financial gap in European club football,” with more money going to clubs who haven’t qualified for European competitions.

They also want more money to go “to support the development of professional football in medium and small countries all across Europe, including non-top tier leagues.”

The association supports plans to introduce a third competition, the Europa League 2, but said they did not want the European club calendar spreading beyond its traditional midweek dates.

Adil Rashid, Tom Curran Star In England’s Big ODI Win

The left-handed batting combination of Morgan and Ben Stokes, who made 35, put on an unbeaten 73-run stand for the fourth wicket to blunt the Sri Lankan bowling attack.

Left-arm spinner Amila Aponso took two early wickets including Joe Root for eight to dent England’s chase but opener Jason Roy ensured the runs kept coming quickly from one end. He made 41 off 26 balls.

Earlier, put in to bat after nearly six hours of play was lost due to rain, the hosts were off to a breezy start courtesy of a 20-ball 36 from Niroshan Dickwella.

Rashid helped England bounce back with wickets at crucial junctures as he claimed four from his five overs of leg-spin.

The left-handed Dickwella put on 57 runs off 33 deliveries with opener partner Sadeera Samarawickrama, who also made a brisk 35.

Fast bowler Curran got Dickwella caught at mid-off to check Sri Lanka’s surge. Curran returned figures of 3-17 from his four overs.

Rashid hit Sri Lanka hard with the wickets of Samarawickrama and Thisara Perera for nought in consecutive deliveries to be on a hat-trick.

Skipper Dinesh Chandimal played out the hat-trick ball and stayed on to make 34 crucial runs before falling to Curran in the final over.

Sri Lanka now need to win the remaining two matches to at least draw level the series. The fourth ODI is scheduled in Kandy on Saturday.

Realme Claims to Have Sold Over 10 Lakh Phones Units During Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale

Realme on Monday revealed that it has sold over 10 lakh smartphone units during Flipkart Big Billion Days sale that was held last week. The company, which started its journey as a subsidiary of Oppo but recently became a separate entity, also announced that the Realme C1 reached the milestone of selling 1,10,000 devices in one second during the Flipkart sale. The Realme 2, on the other hand, is touted to have achieved 10 lakh units sold in 40 days since its launch in late August. With the new records, Realme claims to have emerged as the number two smartphone — behind Xiaomi — brand on Flipkart during the sale that concluded on Sunday.

Alongside the new numbers, Realme announced that its devices will now be available for purchase in the country in the third week of October during the next round of Flipkart’s sales. This also reveals that the online marketplace is in plans to host its next sale in the coming days.

In a press statement, Realme India Chief Executive Officer Madhav Sheth said that the company was overwhelmed with the response from customers during its first ever participation in Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale. “Realme has secured No. 2 position on Flipkart but still we think we underestimated the love and expectations our fans have shown. I’m also happy to announce that Realme 2 has even crossed 1 million sales in just 40 days and even now ranked the highest rating in 10K segment. I’m proud to say there is truly a Realme for every Indian,” Sheth said.

“Realme has been a significant contributor to Big Billion Days sales and has also been one of the fastest selling brands. The Big Billion Days, 2018, has seen the biggest smartphone sellout in the history of smartphone retail industry and we’re poised to continue this success throughout the festive season,” said Ayyappan Rajagopal, Senior Director, Smartphones, Flipkart, in the statement.

The Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1 are the two latest smartphones that were made available during the Flipkart sale. The Realme 2 Pro, in the series, takes on Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Motorola One Power, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Samsung Galaxy J6+, Xiaomi Mi A2, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. The smartphone comes with a starting price of Rs. 13,990 and is available in three different variants, including the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage, 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage, and 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage.

The dual-SIM Realme 2 Pro runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and features a 6.3-inch (1080×2340 pixels) full-HD+ display along with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with Adreno 512 GPU and up to 8GB RAM. There is a dual rear camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel sensor along with an f/1.7 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel sensor along with an f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone has 64GB and 128GB onboard storage options that both are expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). Besides, the handset packs a 3,500mAh battery and measures 156.7×74.0x8.5mm.

The Realme C1, on the other hand, competes against the Xiaomi Redmi 6A and comes with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 for the lone 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant. The dual-SIM Realme C1 runs ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and features a 6.2-inch HD+ (720×1520 pixels) display. There is an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC, coupled with 2GB RAM. Ahead Of Sabarimala Temple Opening, Big Protests, Plans To Stop Women

Devotees marched to the Kerala secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram to protest the Sabarimala verdict.

Thiruvananthapuram:

Thousands of Lord Ayyappa devotees, including women and children, today protested in Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram against the Supreme Court order allowing entry of women of all ages into the Sabarimala temple.

As the temple complex opens Wednesday for monthly rituals, protesters have warned they will not allow women inside the complex and if needed, they will lie down at the entry points.

Steered by the state unit of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), devotees raised slogans and held pictures of Lord Ayyappa, placards and the BJP’s party flags as part of their “Save Sabarimala” campaign.

The Travancore Devaswom Board, which runs the hill-shrine, will meet the patrons, including the Tantri (head priest) family, Pandalam royals and Ayyappa Seva Sangam on Tuesday to discuss the preparations ahead of the three-month-long annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrim season starting November 17.

However, the members of the Padalam royal family and the temple priests haven’t confirmed their presence.

“Let them come and share their views. We will take a suitable decision on all aspects regarding the temple,” the board’s president A Padmakumar said.

Heavy security has been deployed for the opening. So far, no special arrangements have been made for women devotees, he added.

The state has been witnessing a series of protests by the state units of Congress and the BJP as well as Hindu outfits against the verdict and the Left-led government’s “hasty” move to implement the order. Some of the groups have demanded that the Kerala government come out with an ordinance to stop the entry of women to the shrine.

The BJP has alleged that the government is “conspiring” to destroy the hillock shrine.

BJP’s state president PS Sreedharan Pillai has warned of a bigger agitation if the government failed to resolve the issue in the next 24 hours.

“We will meet each villager in Kerala and chalk out a massive agitation plan to protect the Sabarimala Temple, its centuries-old traditions and the sentiments of Lord Ayyappa devotees,” Mr Pillai said.

The Lord Ayyappa temple has traditionally barred all women of menstruating age. The temple’s rule followed the belief that menstruating women are “impure”.

The custom in the temple was challenged by a clutch of petitioners who argued that women cannot be denied the constitutional right to worship.

In a four-one majority verdict, the top court allowed women to enter the temple. But women devotees, activists who backed the ban on the entry of women between the ages of 10 and 50, took to the streets to express their dissent.

Former England Captain Makes Big Rishabh Pant Prediction

Pant has made a great start to life as a Test cricketer following his debut against England in Trent Bridge. Pant went on to notch up his maiden century in only his third Test that India lost to England at The Oval.

Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to hit a century in England, reaching his hundred off only 117 deliveries.

The youngster’s power-hitting caught the eye of cricket pundits and fans across the globe.

Following his exploits in England, Pant had his first taste of Test cricket at home when India took on the visiting Windies side in the first of the two-match series in Rajkot.

Pant yet again gave a good account himself by showcasing some brilliant attacking batting. He reached his half-century by depositing Keemo Paul to the mid-wicket boundary for a maximum.

The left-hander played some powerful, forceful shots against the medium pacers and used the crease to brilliant effect against the spinners.

Pant fell eight runs short of his second Test century, trying to go for a big hit off the bowling off Devendra Bishoo but managed to get only a leading edge.

However, the 21-year-old will have a chance to put the record right on Day 3 of the 2nd Test in Hyderabad.
