Mohammed Salah Brace Helps Liverpool Beat Crystal Palace, Manchester United Down Brighton

However, the match didn’t go all as planned for Liverpool with Palace going into the break with a shock 1-0 lead.

Salah drew Liverpool level right after half-time while Roberto Firmino scored in the 53rd minute to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.

James Tomkins, however, shocked the Anfield faithful with a solid header from a Palace corner in the 65th minute.

Palace defended stoutly with Liverpool throwing the kitchen sink in search for a winner and it came in the form of Salah who was again at hand to put the ball in the back of the net.

James Milner made a marauding run down the right of the field with Fabinho finding him with a inch-perfect diagonal ball. Milner tried to cross for Salah but Julian Speroni made a hash of things by palming the cross towards his own goal.

Salah managed to get a touch just before the ball went in to give Liverpool a 3-2 lead.

Sadio Mane scored in the third minute of injury time to increase Liverpool’s lead but a couple of minutes later Max Meyer struck for Palace to make it a nervy finish for the home side.

United continue resurgence

Meanwhile at Old Trafford, Manchester United made it six wins out of six under Solskjaer with a 2-1 win over a resolute Brighton.

Paul Pogba scored from the spot in the 27th minute after being brought down in the box by a clumsy Gaetan Bong tackle.

United continued to press ahead and Anthony Martial should have doubled their lead soon after but was denied by a fine save from Brighton goalie David Button.

In the 42nd minute, came the moment of the match. Marcus Rashford, who has looked a completely different player after the departure of Jose Mourinho, continued his fine form with a sublime strike.

After receiving a pass from Diogo Dalot, Rashford beat his marker with some brilliant skills and curled in an extraordinary finish into the far corner from an acute angle.

Manchester United were in cruise control for much of the second half but Pascal Gross, out of nothing, pulled one back for Brighton with a fine finish.

The Red Devils managed to hold out for the rest of the match that helped them move above Arsenal and into fifth place in the table.

Henry Sy, Philippines Richest, Who Beat Out Rupert Murdoch, Elon Musk, George Soros; Dies

Manila, Philippines:

The Philippines’ wealthiest man Henry Sy, who rose from being a penniless Chinese immigrant to leading a multi-billion dollar business empire, died on Saturday, his conglomerate has announced.

The 94-year-old, from the Chinese city of Xiamen, made his fortune with a Philippine shopping centre conglomerate that has put up some of the largest malls in the world.

However his holdings also included banks, hotels and real estate in the Philippines, as well as shopping centres in China.

He had a net worth of $19 billion as of Friday, according to

Forbes said he was the 52nd richest person in the world last year, beating out bold name tycoons like Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch and George Soros.

“Henry Sy… passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning. There are no further details at the moment,” his SM group said in a statement to AFP.

Sy put up his first shoe store in downtown Manila in 1956, a business which later grew into a diversified empire.

He stepped down as chairman of his holding firm in 2017, assuming the title of “chairman emeritus” and leaving trusted allies as well as his children in charge of his empire.

It was a long journey for a man who came to the Philippines as a boy to work in his immigrant father’s variety store.

“Our store was so small it had no back or second floor, we just slept on the counter late at night after the store was closed,” he told the Philippine Star newspaper in 2006.

Shoe Store To Supermalls

After their shop was destroyed during World War II, Sy’s father returned to China but Henry chose to stay in the Philippines.

He got a commerce degree from a Manila university and started selling shoes in a shop which would later grow into a chain named “ShoeMart”.

By 1972, his shops had branched out into selling all manner of goods, prompting the name to be changed to SM Department Store.

But it was in 1985 that Sy made history when he opened his first “Supermall” in Manila.

Spanning over 424,000 square metres (4.6 million square feet), the mall included dozens of stores, numerous cinemas, restaurants, banks and other attractions that made it a one-stop shop for millions of Filipinos.

This was just the start, as more of Sy’s mammoth malls popped up across the country, some even containing ice skating rinks, a rarity in the tropical country.

Sy helped create mall culture in the Philippines, where steamy temperatures and the regular threat of torrential downpours can make outdoor shopping uncomfortable.

Sy’s holding company, SM Investments Corp. opened its first mall in China in 2001 and has been expanding there as well.

By 2018, SM said it had 70 malls in the Philippines and seven in China as well as six hotels and eight office buildings.

Sy’s empire has earned its share of criticism from labour groups, who say it uses thousands of contractual hires to avoid paying higher wages and benefits that permanent workers are entitled to.

SM officials have insisted that they do not engage in so-called “contractualisation”, but say they hire “seasonal” workers for peak periods like Christmas, back-to-school and even weekends.

Haryana overpowered Odisha 2-0 to set up a title clash with Jharkhand in the Girls U-21 hockey competition of the Khelo India Youth Games on Friday. In the first semi-final, Jharkhand overwhelmed Punjab 3-0. The U-17 girls section will also see a Haryana-Jharkhand face-off for gold medal on Sunday. The gold medal matches between Haryana and Jharkhand in both Under-17 and Under-21 will be held on Sunday, while the bronze medal play-offs will be held on Saturday, with Odisha meeting Punjab in both Under-17 and Under-21 sections, a media release said.

Haryana started on an aggressive note and opened up a two-goal cushion in the space of four minutes even before the Odisha players could settle down.  Anu put Haryana ahead in the seventh minute when her rasping shot from the top of the circle beat Odisha goalkeeper Asima Minz all ends up.

The shock goal rattled the Odisha defence which conceded their first penalty corner in the 11th minute and skipper Ritu with a powerful drive sounded the boards.

Odisha regrouped and launched a fierce counter-attack but Binita Kujur fumbled inside the circle and her shot went wide.

Though Haryana had a major share of possession, they could not convert the advantage into goals, while Odisha fought back well and did not allow their fancied rivals to widen the 2-0 gap.

Odisha also had their share of chances but their strikers were found wanting in front of goal.

Earlier, Jharkhand outplayed Punjab 3-0 in a one-sided semi-final and the victory margin was not a true indication of the superiority the winners enjoyed throughout the match. But for the missed chances, Jharkhand could have won by at least six goals.

For the winners who led 1-0 at half time, the goal scorers were Alka Dung Dung, Pramila Soreng and Roshni Dung Dung.

Jharkhand went ahead in the second minute when Alka scored off the first penalty corner. The winners totally dominated the first half but could not increase their lead with some poor finishing.

Punjab’s girls were hardly able to mount a comprehensive threat on the rival citadel in the first quarter and though they forced two penalty corners in the second quarter, Punjab failed to make use of them.

Two minutes into the second half, Jharkhand earned their fourth penalty corner and this time Pramila Soreng was bang on target to take the tally to 2-0.

Punjab tried hard on the counter but their forwards were not able to create openings or even half-chances.

Jharkhand sealed the match in the 44th minute when Roshni capitalised on a defensive lapse and pushed the ball home.

Results: U-21 Girls Hockey Semi-Final Haryana 2 Odisha 0 Jharkhand 3 Punjab 0.

Asian Cup 2019: Son Heung-Min Helps South Korea Beat China 2-0

An effervescent Son Heung-min inspired title-chasing South Korea to a comfortable 2-0 victory over China on Wednesday to finish top of their Asian Cup group. Hwang Ui-jo and Kim Min-jae were on target as the Koreans, boosted by the arrival of their talisman, ran China ragged in Abu Dhabi. Talisman Son won the penalty converted by Hwang and fizzed in the assist for Kim to spark South Korea, who finished top of Group C with a perfect nine points as they look to end 59 years of Asian Cup hurt.

Marcello Lippi’s Chinese side finished as group runners-up having likewise already sealed their place in the last 16 by winning their first two matches.

Korean captain Son surprisingly started – and completed 87 minutes – despite a punishing run of 13 games for Tottenham since the start of December.

The mercurial Spurs forward, who played in the London club’s 1-0 defeat by Manchester United three days ago, showed quick feet to tempt China defender Shi Ke into a rash challenge 12 minutes.

Hwang calmly tucked away the spot-kick to send thousands of Korean “Red Devils” fans wild at the compact Al Nahyan Stadium.

South Korea, who beat Asian Cup first-timers Philippines and Kyrgyzstan 1-0 in their opening two games, went for the jugular.

A Hwang Hee-chan rocket forced China goalkeeper Yan Junling into a fingertip save before Hwang Ui-jo curled an effort against the post.

The Koreans, joint title favourites with Iran, doubled their lead six minutes after the break when Son’s corner was met by Kim’s thumping header.

South Korea, who famously reached the World Cup semi-finals in 2002, have failed to win the Asian Cup since winning back-to-back titles in 1956 and 1960.

They have been finalists on four subsequent occasions, including in 2015 when they were beaten in extra time by hosts Australia.

But Son’s inclusion has clearly energised the Taeguk Warriors, who suddenly look a very different proposition.

China, Asian Cup runners-up in 1984 and 2004, began the competition by edging Kyrgyzstan 2-1 and overpowering the Philippines 3-0.

But they were no match for South Korea and were lucky not to concede further goals in a lop-sided game.

Elsewhere in Group C, a Vitalij Lux hat-trick sent Sven-Goran Eriksson’s Philippines crashing out and gave Kyrgyzstan hope of progressing as one of the best third-placed teams in a 3-1 victory.

German-based Lux struck once in the first half and twice in the second in Dubai before the Philippines grabbed a consolation goal through Stephan Schrock with 10 minutes to go.

Premier League: Solskjaer Hails David De Gea As Manchester United Dig Deep To Beat Tottenham Hotspur

He made 11 saves — the most he has made in a top-flight league match without conceding a goal — leaving Spurs players holding their heads in disbelief on multiple occasions.

Solskjaer hailed De Gea as “the best goalkeeper in the world” but also praised his team’s defensive resilience and team spirit.

“We’ve had some great ‘keepers at this club and I think he’s challenging both Edwin (van der Sar) and Peter (Schmeichel) for the number one spot historically, he said.

“The win here was massive, the team spirit was massive, the belief and the joy in the dressing room absolutely fantastic,” added the Norwegian, who has equalled Matt Busby’s record of winning his first five league games in charge of United.

United were eight points behind Arsenal when Solskjaer became their caretaker manager on December 19 but are now level on points with the fifth-placed Gunners as they hunt down a Champions League qualification spot.

But the result is a devastating blow for Tottenham, who again came up short when the pressure was on and remain nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Pochettino praised his side despite their defeat. “Tottenham did everything to win the game,” he said. “Maybe we dominated and we created a lot of chances. It was an amazing second half, I am so pleased.

“Sometimes you win a game and you are disappointed, like when we won 3-0 at Old Trafford. They were better than us that day. Today the result should be different and I am happy.”

Earlier, Tottenham settled quickly into their fluid passing game, enjoying the bulk of possession and went close to opening the scoring through Harry Winks before Jesse Lingard fired over from close range for the visitors.

United, with Lingard, Anthony Martial and Rashford racing forward at every opportunity, looked dangerous on the break.

Spurs striker Harry Kane had a close-range effort correctly ruled out for offside just after the half hour.

Moussa Sissoko pulled up sharply shortly before the break and although he returned to the pitch he was unable to continue, being replaced by Erik Lamela. Moments later United were ahead.

– Rashford strike –

Lingard cut out a careless cross-field ball from Kieran Trippier and nudged the ball to Pogba, who had time to look up and measure a raking cross-field pass to Rashford, sprinting down the right.

Rashford still had plenty to do but kept his nerve to fire right-footed past Lloris and into the far corner — Lloris got fingertips to the ball but was unable to keep it out.

Tottenham came out of the blocks smartly after the restart and Kane looked certain to level from close range but De Gea saved brilliantly with his left foot before pulling off a fine save to deny an Alli headed effort.

At the other end, Ashley Young sent over an inviting cross that Pogba headed straight at Lloris and the Spurs goalkeeper had to be alert to tip over another Pogba effort that came at the end of a long spell of United possession.

Spurs, roared on by a passionate home crowd, were building up a head of steam and Alli had another a golden chance to equalise but De Gea was again equal to the task.

The Spaniard produced yet another stunning save to keep out Toby Alderweireld before flying to his right to cling on to a Kane free-kick.

Spurs had further chances in a frenetic ending but could find no way past the inspired De Gea.

Kane took a knock in the closing seconds of the match, with Pochettino saying “we hope it is not a big issue”.

Doug Bracewell, Scott Kuggeleijn Star As New Zealand Beat Sri Lanka In One-Off T20I

Although the target was not daunting, and Sri Lanka easily kept up with the required run rate to be four for 118 after 12 overs.

But their last six wickets fell for the addition of only 26 more runs and the innings folded for 144 with 19 balls remaining.

Kuggeleijn and Bracewell both took wickets in their opening overs.

Kusal Perera, who raced to 22 off 12 deliveries was removed by Kuggeleijn’s third delivery while Niroshan Dickwella, who smacked a four and a six from the first two balls of the innings, went for 18 with the first ball from Bracewell.

Kuggeleijn and Bracewell also took the catches to dismiss Kusal Mendis (17) and Thisara Perera (43).

The first game all tour for Sadeera Samarawickrama was a short-lived affair when he was bowled first ball by Lockie Ferguson.

Ferguson finished with figures of three for 21 while Ish Sodhi took three for 30.

Sri Lanka did with the toss and put New Zealand into bat with impressive early results.

With a more disciplined bowling attack than was seen in the ODIs, and with astute field placements, Sri Lanka ripped through the New Zealand top order to have them four for 27 midway through the fourth over.

Ross Taylor, who tormented Sri Lanka in the one-dayers, had to play a more circumspect role.

His first 11 runs were all singles from 22 deliveries before he first found the boundary on his way to 33 off 37.

Taylor’s patience, however, had set the stage for the Bracewell and Kuggeleijn to hit out and give the total some respectability.

Bracewell clubbed 44 off 26 balls including five sixes and a four while Kuggeleijn only faced 15 deliveries to be not out 35 with four sixes and a four.

New Zealand now prepare to host India in a series of ODIs while Sri Lanka head to Australia.

How Long to Beat Devil May Cry 5? Capcom Gives the Answer

Devil May Cry 5 for the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC is out on March 8 and in the run up to this, the game’s director Hideaki Itsuno confirmed the game’s length. During a media showcase event in South Korea, Itsuno stated that Devil May Cry 5 will take 15 to 16 hours to beat. This is based on the time taken by the developers to finish the game. Furthermore he let slip that the future of DmC: Devil May Cry — the 2012 re-imagination of the franchise is uncertain at the moment. Other tidbits include the possible addition of new playable characters, the difficulty the team faced with adapting the RE engine (Capcom’s own in-house tech), and the Devil May Cry 5 timeline.

“The development team took about 15 to 16 hours to clear the game,”Itsuno said in response to a question regarding how long it would take to beat Devil May Cry 5 (via Gematsu). He also stated that the game was set after Devil May Cry 2, the reason for which “can be understood by playing the game”. We’re guessing his answer is vague to prevent any spoilers.

Itsuno also let slip that it was “it was difficult to implement the violent action of Devil May Cry” in the RE engine that was originally created for Resident Evil 7. So much so that the team spent time on “upgrading the engine’s processing speed and performance.”

While some feel the game looks similar to 2012’s DmC: Devil May Cry, Itsuno said this was in no way intentional.

“It might look that way since we were shooting for photo realism, but we were actually aiming for something Hollywood movie-esque like The Avengers,” he said. As for the future of DmC: Devil May Cry, that is difficult to say.”

Also he mentioned that if a lot of players want playable characters, they would be added.

In addition to this, Devil May Cry 5 will run at 60fps and support 4K resolution output on the PS4 Pro, Devil May Cry 5 Producer Matt Walker revealed in a Twitter interaction with a fan. That’s the highest possible performance on Sony’s current-gen console, which more than qualifies it as “PS4 Pro Enhanced.”

Of course, 4K isn’t natively supported on PS4 Pro for games. The console uses various rendering techniques including checkerboard rendering – wherein only certain portions are rendered, and the other parts are filled in using algorithms – and anti-aliasing algorithms to smooth things out. For what it’s worth, experts have deduced that you can’t tell the difference with your eyes.

4K purists will want to know how Devil May Cry 5 will perform on Xbox One X and PC – expect it to hit 4K at 60fps on both as well.

Previously, Capcom revealed that Devil May Cry 5 will have micro-transactions that will allow you to purchase “Red Orbs” with real money. The developer says you will be able to collect “ample” by just playing the game, but we won’t know for sure until release.

Premier Badminton League: Delhi Dashers Beat Hyderabad Hunters

PV Sindhu’s brilliant victory went in vain as former champions Delhi Dashers grabbed a 4-3 win over defending champions Hyderabad Hunters in a Premier Badminton League (PBL) clash at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday. The loss, however, could not make any difference for the Hunters, who continue to enjoy the top position in the table standings, with 24 points. As for Delhi, this was their first victory in six matches in what has been a season to forget. World No.32 Evgeniya Kosetskaya of the Dashers was no match for BWF World Tour Finals winner Sindhu. The World No.3 was in no mood to relent and effortlessly claimed a 15-11, 15-9 win.

In the first game, the Russian was able to keep it competitive till 7-7 after which Sindhu wrested control of the proceedings. Sindhu’s pinpoint smashes helped her jump to 10-7 in the second game and she never allowed her opponent to come closer before wrapping up the match.

Earlier, HS Prannoy, who has struggled with a knee injury and breathing issues this season, made a winning return as he edged Hyderabad’s World No. 146 Rahul Yadav Chittaboina 15-10, 9-15, 15-12. Prannoy’s blistering backhands were on song right from the word go and he opened up a 10-6 lead in the first game in no time.

However, with a few errors creeping into his game, the 2018 Asian Championships bronze medallist fell behind 4-8 in the second game. The lower-ranked Chittaboina seized this opportunity to set up a decider, where Prannoy found his form again. With his smashes finding their mark, the Delhi shuttler raced ahead to 7-3 before closing out the match.

Delhi rightly selected their men’s doubles pair of Chai Biao and Maneepong Jongjit as their Trump for the day. Against the Hunters duo of Bodin Isara and Arun George, the pair looked slightly off-colour and conceded the first game 8-15.

However, that was a wake-up call for the Trump pair. They rebounded strongly in the second and the third games to grab an 8-15, 15-8, 15-8 victory.

Tommy Sugiarto and Mark Caljouw had never met on the international circuit before. But there was no surprise in their first-ever meeting as World No. 9 Sugiarto made short work of the Hyderabad player 15-6, 15-11 in a performance that was one of the very best from the Indonesian.

Hyderabad, however, were not disheartened by the smashing display from the former champions. They made up for it by finishing the tie on a high with a win in mixed doubles. Kim Sa Rang and Eom Hye Won teamed up to get a 15-7, 15-12 win over Delhi’s Wang Sijie and Chia Hsin Lee.
