Donald Trump To Make ”Major Announcement” About Shutdown

Washington, United States:

US President Donald Trump will make a “major announcement” Saturday about the long-running US government shutdown and the situation on the country’s southern border.

The partial shutdown — which began when Trump refused to sign off on budget legislation that did not include funding for his planned border wall — enters its fifth week on Saturday.

“I will be making a major announcement concerning the Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border, and the Shutdown, tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M., live from the @WhiteHouse,” Trump tweeted without providing further details.

Trump has mulled declaring a state of emergency on the southern border in a bid to secure funding for the wall without congressional approval — a move that would almost certainly lead to a challenge in the courts.

The shutdown — the longest in US history — has paralyzed Washington and resulted in 800,000 federal employees being furloughed or working without pay.

SP and BSP allinances in Uttar Pradesh Know when will be announcement on seat name

After 10% Quota Announcement, AAP Demands Special Parliament Session

Centre must extend Parliament session and bring constitutional amendment, Arvind Kejriwal said. (File)

New Delhi:

Calling the upper caste quota an election stunt by the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday demanded a special session of the Parliament to bring constitutional amendment for the implementation of the decision.

“For the economically backward upper castes, the Narendra Modi government has given a welcoming ‘jumla’. Such similar decisions have been passed from time to time by several states, but the courts have banned more than 50 per cent reservation. Is this also a drama?” AAP lawmaker Sanjay Singh said.

The Union Cabinet on Monday approved 10 per cent quota for people belonging to “unreserved categories”, including Christians and Muslims, in jobs and education with an annual income limit of Rs 8 lakh.

The AAP leader said the Centre “should call for a special session of the parliament, or “we will consider it another jumla”, adding that “if only the cabinet passes this decision, the Supreme Court will ban this”.

“The Central government should extend Parliament session and bring constitutional amendment immediately.” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said. He added that the Centre should amend the law before the Lok Sabha elections and promise support for it.

“Ridiculous Selection”: Shane Warne Slams Australian Selectors After ODI Team Announcement

A fuming Shane Warne slammed the Australian selectors after the One-day International (ODI) squad for the upcoming three-match series against India was announced on Friday. The selectors axed five players — Travis Head, Chris Lynn, D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott and all-rounder Ashton Agar — on basis of current form. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins were rested for the limited-over series while Nathan Lyon, Usman Khawaja and veteran Peter Siddle were brought back into the ODI setup. Blasting at the selection decisions, the Australian spin legend on Twitter wrote, “These ridiculous selections must stop in all forms of Australian cricket – end of !”

Warne was “absolutely staggered” after the selection committee revealed the squad for the upcoming ODI series. The 49-year-old also criticized the selection of the players asserting that the changes made no sense whatsoever.

Earlier, Warne had predicted his playing XI for the ODI series against India.

The Australian selectors named off-spinner Lyon in the squad, who will be returning to the limited overs format after a gap of over six months.

Usman Khawaja, who last featured in an ODI way back in January 2017 against Pakistan, was also recalled for the series.

Medium pacer Peter Siddle (34) – last featured in an ODI in November 2010 — was also included in the squad.

“With this in mind and the World Cup looming, we’ve selected players we feel provide us with the flexibility to play a variety of roles at different stages of a match,” national selector Trevor Hohns said.

“The upcoming three-match series against India and the ODI tours of India and the UAE are important windows to put this into practice and to build a squad to help defend our World Cup title,” Hohns added.

Agar, Short and James Pattinson, who featured in Warne’s list were left out of the squad.

The three-match ODI series between India and Australia is scheduled to commence from January 12 in Sydney.

Australia’s 14-man squad: Aaron Finch (capt), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey, Jhye Richardson, Billy Stanlake, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon, Adam Zampa.

Kamal Nath decided not to make any announcement as people of MP |

http://zeenews.india.com/
